I've never seen the appeal of The Punisher so I'm not interested in that book at all. Ant Man on the other hand sounds very interesting and I'm definately going to give it a try.

On the other hand, I'd be all for a Punisher series set in the Marvel Universe if its written by Matt Fraction. Ariel Olivetti doing the art is the icing on the cake.

I don't care too much about Ant Man in any form, but Kirkman has been good usually, and I really like Hester's art style.

WHOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!

They're wasting Kirkman with Ant-Man??? Meh...

edit: I just read that it'll be a new guy, so this have creator-owned kinda of project all-written in it. Could be cool...

MF: First off, I have to say that I... I'm terrified that this is a book that's going to exist while Garth's run is going on. Like, seriously-- what am I, retarded? What that guy's done with Frank, whether it was his Knights stuff or the MAX stuff is just... I try really hard not to think about putting a Punisher book out at the same time that Ennis is, y'know, defining the character for generations to come and stuff.

Glad to know we share that thought. Best of luck to him, he's going to need it.

I have to say... I'm loving the Ant-Man costume design. He looks like a cartoon character (goofy looking antenna and all) and I think it suits the character concept.

Damn, Zombie Scott Lang would have been awesome!

Yeah, I had to fight the urge to yell, "Spooon!" when I saw the new Anty. :D

When I read about the new Ant-Man series, I thought it was going to be the one that was promised a couple years ago. I think it was under the Marvel Knights line of books. It was never published.

MAX, actually. Part of the Daniel Way Never Published collection, along with Deathlok.

Wells is the guy who writes Marvel Adventures Spider-Man, right? Should I be excited or scared?

They both sound pretty cool and I like that Punisher is being sort of re-integrated into the Marvel universe setting.

The Ant-Man project looks to be interesting as well and I'm a big fan of Kirkman so I'll give it a shot, although the new Ant-Man suit doesn't look as cool to me.

I'll probably pick up the first couple of issues of Punisher War Journal for the hell of it. The fact that Castle is being placed back in regular Marvel continuity scares the hell out of me though, as I'm a big fan of the MAX series, and this could be a sign that Marvel is planning on axing it sometime down the road.

I, for one, am happy to see the MU Punisher back being written by some one other then Ennis.

Where have you been? Diggle, Lapham, Way, Palmiotti... there hasn't been a lack of Punisher projects the last year or two.

Punisher interests me. Finally an ongoing that's not written by Ennis and thus I can enjoy.

Ant-Man. Duh. The interview got me hooked. I'm not THAT a fan of Hester's art but those pages looked awesome.

... what?! WHAT?! Oh boy, oh, boy, oh boy!

He also wrote the last New Warriors series nearly everybody loathed (despite it's good quality IMO) as well as some "Tangled Web" issues, the last few issues of "Peter Parker: Spider-Man" and "Fantastic Four/Iron Man: Big in Japan".

Stefano Caselli is drawing "G.I. Joe" (Vol. 2) at the moment and drew "G.I. Joe: Master & Apprentice" and "Defex".

Nah, theyre just trying to broaden their sales. The LCBS I used to go to strictly I.D.s adult rated comics, but the one I go to now doesn't, probably because virtually all his customers are 18+ since he's located right next to a college campus, and underneath one of the campus bookstores.

i've enjoyed most everything that Kirkman has written. an i'm all about him creating new characters for Marvel. too bad they didn't make the costume more like the one the character in Mutant 2099 wears. can't say that i'm much of a Punisher fan. once you get past the violence, what's the appeal? i could read Ares' title for that. Castle works better in guest-appearances (imo).

Well-written, diverse storylines, social commentary, great characterization, dark humor, and of course...Aunty Mo.

What else do you want in a comic?

I was really hoping for Scott Lang to resurface, but I guess this is better than a Zombie. I'm really tired of zombie-anything.

The costume is cool, the art looks neat, but it's just the name Ant Man, kinda makes heroes feel particularly replaceable. just copy the powers and you've got the guy/gal.

But aside for Foes (cough..gagg..hurl!) he's a pretty solid writer so I'll give it a shot. Punisher's never been my cup-o-tea, but it sounds like a good creative team.

Pretty soon Pym Particles need to be addressed as a new Genie in the bottle. Mankiller, Atlas, Goliath(Foster), Clint, VanDyne , Lang, Lang's kid..everyone's getting these things it seems.

i think i'll stick with Nighthawk, then. he kills to but seems a little deeper.

he has resurfaced; in X-Statix: Dead-Girl. that and his spirit lives on in Cassie Lang.

but we're only talking about 'Ant-Man' here. making it a legacy is the best thing to do with an identity like that (imo). hopefully this one won't have beating up women in his dossier.

yeah, well Man-Killer's first time out didn't go so well.

all i have to say is: CANCELLATION. i have my doubts that either series, especially ant-man (a b-list character in my book) will make it past issue 12. marvel certainly is trying to carry a lot of solo books recently, she-hulk and ms. marvel, and now punisher and ant-man. i guess we'll just have to see how well they're done.

what i really want is the civil war to spawn an ALPHA FLIGHT series. now that would be hot, as long as its done correctly. fingers crossed, this could still happen.

Alpha Flight are a bunch of B-listers. :)

valid point, i'll give you that! :o but i perhaps a group of b-listers can outmatch one b-lister, right?

i'd hope so. but what i'd like to point out that one of these B-listers is unproven and the other group of B-listers have several failures under their belts. that said, i love the classic Alpha Flight characters. some of them actually do better as individual B-listers.
