Okay. Seriously. I haven't read even one positive post about this particular Sabretooth being on the team. I know I can't stand him, and he's a pathetic replacement for Cal. What does everyone think? Not just "get rid of him" or whatnot, but why and should he have even been on the team and other etc. like that. And is there anyone who wants him on the team? I know I'd like to see some reasoning behind him being there from a supporter.

(And I have a bad feeling that Miguel will be the one kicked out to make way for Psylocke.)

Never liked him..

I wouldn't say he's a replacement of Mimic though.

I liked that Bedard brought him into the series because it made sense that since he was left behind and they were going to learn the truth about the timebroker they'd pick him up anyway. But maybe he should have died fighting Hyperion or died instead of Mimic against Proteus..
I mean Bedard wanted an emotional death shaking Blink to the core and Creed's death would have surely done that.

Ah, but it wouldn't have shaken up the readers, too...

I realized today that Cal's death meant exactly nothing to me. The way it happened, somehow, it doesn't mean jack squat.

Well you are about to. Sabretooth is the main reason I buy Exiles and he is a great character.

Make that two postives because I only still read Exiles due to Sabretooth and Morph, the rest of the crew pretty much sucks. Sabretooth from AOA has long been one of my favorite charcters taking the best of Sabretooth and Wolverine and throwing away the lameness that has become attached to them over the years. This is actually the first time I have seen such hatred of poor Vic, I liked Cal too, but come on how can you call him a replacement considering he's been around longer than half the other team members and long before Mimic left, if anything Spider-Man 2099 is the lame replacement for Cal and I'd rather have seen him take the dirt nap

I cant wait to see Psylocke's reaction to Sabertooth.

3 positives in a row. Looks like Sabretooth is more popular than some think.

i've mentioned this in the other Exiles threads, and i really dislike Sabretooth. Whether as a replacement for Mimic or not, he's been a boring character so far.

No, Longshot is on the team now.

Re: Sabes, I won't pretend I'm a big fan of him being on the team. He had his place, and that place was the AoA. I think one of the reasons he was brought in initially was to help capitalize on the 10th anniversary AoA craze of last year, but with that over, he's essentially a blond Wolverine without the adamantium. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, mind, he's got a reasonably interesting personality... but it's a personality I can read every month in a dozen other books. I like that Exiles fills a similar niche for readers as the original Excalibur, which is why Spidey 2099 and Longshot fit in while I don't much care for Vic. That said, it may become a moot point if he's the one who dies to make way for Power Princess (or if Claremont decides to ax him when he takes over the book).

They were teammates for quite a long time, and it made for interesting character dynamics between Creed, Rankin, and Blink. Third: If you haven't read one positive post about AOA Sabretooth being on the team, then you haven't been doing a lot of reading. AOA Sabretooth's inclusion on the team makes perfect sense, given his history with Blink, as well as the interesting dynamic mentioned above. No, he should not be gettin rid of. He's come too far from the cold blooded lunatic killer he was in X-Men Chronicles #1 to the rough-on-the-outside, but a good-soul-on-the-inside to be killed off now. I feel that 616 Sabretooth's inclusion in the X-Men in the future will make some fans feel that this, lesser known Sabretooth would be irrelevant. :evilangry

i, on the other hand, feel that this is a reason why his inclusion doesn't make sense.

the Exiles were originally a team of characters unrelated to each other from different worlds or points in time. This led to interesting interaction like Morph/Sunfire, Mimic/Blink and Thunderbird/Nocturne

bringing a character like Sabretooh who already has a history with Blink makes the book less interesting, IMO

Wow...that's actually a good point I didn't think of. That kind of does take away from what the Exiles once were.

Personally, Exiles became a lot less fun since the "mystery" of the Timebrokers was revealed. AoA Sabes joining was something that just added to my declining interest buuut I don't hate him.

Eh. Sabretooth's alright. If he's here or not it doesn't matter.

I only read for Morph to tell the truth.

yeah that point only came across to me as i was typing it. talk about inspiration!! :D

i agree about the "mystery" of the timebrokers bit, but i think the new direction of the Exiles actively going to remedy time problems is quite interesting. Just that some characters aren't.

According to Wizard World X news Sabretooth is staying put, along woth Morph and Blink.
http://www.newsarama.com/WWLA06/Marvel/X_Menchanges.htm

So Claremont is probably going to make this a pure X book with a stable roster again, which I personally think sucks. I reckon that its between Heather and Spiderman 2099 who will die next. More likely Heather because she has been around the longest which also suckds because she has really grown as a character since she lost her Sasquatch powers.

I think Sabertooth works well on the team- he makes for interesting characterisation/interaction, esp when the team lands in a reality where Sabretooth is a villian.

I thought it was nice they have been bringing in new people but the book still seems mutant heavy to me.

Plus I would really like them to go back and deal with Thunderbird. Is he dead or what?

Yeah i wish they would deal with Thunderbird too. They didn't spare any trouble getting Mimic back, but leave Thunderbird?

I think the villain thing with Sabretooth could be done with any other villian, not someone with ties to Blink (or any other member of the team for that matter)

Unique made the best point: Exiles is about alternate, variant versions of characters from different realities. New and different takes on old favorites should be the dominant theme, not "let's keep prolonging Age of Apocalypse characters beyond their shelf life becuz there soooooo kewl."

Sabretooth has been seen before; that automatically makes him less qualified for a slot on the Exiles. PLUS, he's an old friend of one of the other team members; that's fatal. Who would make a better Exile? Just about anybody. A heroic Unus who can control his powers, for example; Magik and Sunfire were great members; how about a successfully merged Cypher/Warlock from yet another reality?

"New and different," folks; not "more AoA forever."

Okay, first:: AOA Sabretooth was introduced a long time before Exiles Mimic was.

Well, yes he was in the AoA.

But no he wasn't in the context of eXiles. Mimic was a founding eXile, whereas Sabretooth's Weapon X team didn't appear for the firast time for another few issues.

But I hear what you're saying.

Sabretooth was always going to end up in this team sooner or later. It made sense for him to join when he did, due to the whole AoA anniversary event.

I don't want them to kill off Spidey 2099 just yet. He has a lot of potential, and to kill him off right now would be a bit of a waste.

I'd love it if the team were to stroll into Death's Head and Tuck in there future travels. The two have kind of been missing in time and space since the mid 90s...

Or any of the other Marvel UK characters like Motormouth and Killpower - who also spent their time dimension jumping. Nobody's seen them since they guested in the Incredible Hulk.

Nah he was last seen in a coma so I'm pretty sure he's not dead.
I figure they probably would have gotten to fixing him up sooner had it not been for Proteus, I mean they got right to burying Sunfire and sending the female Hulk from Weapon X home.
Also Angel from WX should be alive too as he was supposedly "sent home"

I liked him in AoA and I like him Exiles. He's a great character! I have his figure on preorder, he rocks.

I hated the way they killed Mimic off. Not that he *died* especially, but that there seemingly was no *reaction* (unlike the T-bird died). He's the only guy who has been with the team *the entire time* ('cept for Morph) And also he's sort-of the "centre" I always thought...

Also, I like Mimic. He's got cool powers and a decent personality.

I think the "reaction" to his death and many others will be in the issue after World Tour ends. World Tour was meant to feel like a thrill ride that never let up so taking time to mourn would of slowed that down... Tony did mention on his message board after World Tour he'd do more character moments and that issue seems to be it (Before Claremont comes in)
