Obviously the answer is known for Mantis in the recent, excellent CELESTIAL QUEST. However, what became of other characters that were written by "Stainless" Steve? Does anyone know?

The Slasher?

Shuma-Gorath?

Ms. Marvel/Sharon Ventura/She-Thing? I recall she was in a "Girls night out" MARVEL KNIGHTS with the FANTASTIC FOUR...

The Human Bombs? (These, I suspect, have never been seen again, but you never know...)

What happened to the physical object of the Serpent Crown, where is it now, and what was the last time it was seen?

The Valkyrie? Wherever she is, she's not in DEFENDERS. Keith Giffen, ever the "professional," called her one of the "worst Defenders ever created." Odd, considering how by raw charisma, under Englehart she turned the book into VALKYRIE AND FRIENDS.

The Shroud?

Has the Pacifist Kree on Earth ever been mentioned again? Has the frankly, mindblowing theory of Englehart's, that they invented the first Martial Art ever, been followed up or developed on?

The Star-Stalker?

Also, am I alone in thinking that in a year featuring the return from the ashes of cancellation of She-Hulk, news of a possible one-shot Champions revival by Peter David, the assignment of Kurt Busiek to Superman, and the good news of a third LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN emerging, the single most exciting piece of news is the return of Stainless Steve to comics, first with the sequel to DARK DETECTIVE, and later with a western comic?

Shuma-Gorath?

Showed up in "Marvel Knights 4" #26-27.

The Valkyrie?

Dead. She died in "Ragnarök", the last Thor story of his last series. She has yet to "get better".

The Valkyrie is now around, and part of a group of Defenders currently inactive, in her Samantha Parrington identity.

The Valkyrie was originally a persona of the Enchantress, based on a group of Asgardian warrior goddesses headed by Brunnhilde, who had formed the Lady Liberators in a scheme to defeat the Avengers from within. Later, a manifestation of her magic imbued Samantha making her the original Valkyrie, if you will.

Both stories were written by Roy Thomas.

Englehart's Valkyrie was Barbara Norris, whom the Enchantress had bonded with Brunnhilde resulting in a gradual conflict of emerging identities. I believe Barbara is now dead and Brunnhilde, who eventually regained complete control of the Valkyrie's persona, is missing as well.

I bet Mr. Busiek could shed some more light on the situation, which is fairly complex.
