I just don't care about Marvel right now, or in fact, since Bendis was through his fourth Daredevil arc. Maybe it has to do with the sales pitch, because, let's face it, whenever Didio or Quesada speak out, they're trying to make a sale.

Joe Quesada just hasn't been able to do that with me, and has not backed it up with the talent either.

Daniel Way on Wolverine: Origins? I couldn't believe it because A: who is this guy? and B: so what?

Granted, Marvel may not have the deep pockets DC does, but the smart thing DC is doing is spending their money wisely, and putting the right people on the right books. You want someone to reintroduce Batman as a character; James Robinson couldn't be better.

Marvel has not made me care about Civil War. I don't care who is on who's side, and Mark Millar has been dwindling since his end on Authority.

Ed Brubaker is the only name that draws me still, though I probably won't pick up his X-Men because they have never peaked my interest. It's never mattered who's writing or drawing them. I've tried them after every creative
hand off since the mid-eighties, and I just can't get a feel for them.

Spiderman: Gang War needs a trade. That story was marvelous. That's when I enjoyed Marvel, and that Spiderman vs. Wolvering one shot, the one when Ned Leeds died, is one of the most influential comics ever. Also, when Steve Rogers relinquished the Captain America role, that was storytelling.

Civil War just feels rushed and forced on the consumers.
Infinite Crisis was planned years ago, and it's playing out like that, and even now that it has come to fruition, it feels like a living experiment. Civil War, and Annihalation, and Planet Hulk feel like the aftermath of hydrochloric acid doused on a corpse's face. Don't move, we'll be sure to slop it on you.

Stracynski and Bendis need to jump ship already, and the talent Marvel is using right now needs to step up. Marvel recently signed J. Scott Campbell; they can have him. DC thanks him for his characters, now move along.

Peter David signed out of spite for Fallen Angel. Jeph Loeb signed because he was just bored, and it started showing in his latter Superman/Batman and Supergirl run. I'm hoping this new territory will reinvigorate his brain, and I believe it will, but Joe Madura is going to be the one holding The Ultimates volume 3 back.

Okay, I've bitched enough. Now it's your turn.

Hit me.

Civil War, and Annihalation, and Planet Hulk feel like the aftermath of hydrochloric acid doused on a corpse's face. Don't move, we'll be sure to slop it on you.The latter two aren't crossing over with anything. They're totally self-contained and easy to avoid if that's what you want to do.

Stories that are created to run through most of the company titles are just a plan to make you buy them on top of your regular reading habits and hope that you like the series that you are trying out, and will keep the sales up high to stop it from being cancelled.

I've just finished reading TT #32 and it felt like reading IC #4 again. WHo's stupid idea was that. I read a title for a totally different story, not an adaption of one that has already been released a few weeks earlier.

Every maxi or limited series that Marvel turns out and adds the tag "The Marvel Universe will change forever after this", means to me that is so badly written it's not worth picking up.

Last year we had the HOM. I read it then though, so what, whats so special now other than killing off million of mutants that sprang out of wood work during Morrison's run on X-Men.

This year it's Civil War. So what. However much hype they give a series, it won't make me buy it.
Already series are leading into Civil War, but if that is ment to make me go out than it is badly done.

Why can't Marvel adopt an Idea Denny O'Neil had back in the 90's about the Batman titles will not cross over for the next year or so.
Why can't Marvel just turn out a monthly title like they did in the past which made the wait really worth it, rather than rushing through a story by pushing out 2 issues a month
I know there are titles that come out once a month, but when you get USM, X-Men, Uncanny rammed down your throat every other week, it makes me feel that Marvel don't care what they produce, all they think of is money.

So you know for a FACT that Peter David signed exclusive simply because he wanted to spite DC? huh, I could have sworn it had something to do with the fact that DC wasnt hiring him, exclusives give benefits, and he is guaranteed work. But I'm sure it was just to spite DC.

And while Annihilation is easily avoided (and judging by the oneshot it should be...yuck!) and same for Planet Hulk I would hardly say Civil War is easily avoidable. Sure you can not read it and probably be fine, but if you reading any Marvel Heroes books, chances are your gonna wanna find out what is happening since it's impact is supposed to be deep.

And I'm not a huge Marvel guy lately, but they still have a ton of good stuff IMO.

Young Avengers
Runaways
Captain America
Daredevi
Astonishing X-Men
Ultimates
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
She-Hulk
THing
Hulk
X-Factor
Cable/Deadpool

And those are just a few off the top of my head, not to mention some new series that look promising like Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, Squadron Supreme.

The biggest problem I have had with Marvel for the past couple of years has been value. Marvel and DC will soon be equal in price, but I generally feel I get a lot more story in the average DC comic over some of the Marvel comics I used to buy. That's part of the reason my Marvel list is so small, guys like JMS and Bendis write in the style and while I'm sure a lot of folks love it, I just feel like I only got 11 pages instead of 22.
