It's St. Patrick's Day and it just wouldn't be right if we didn't each pour one out for our dear, departed Sean Cassidy.

I'm serious. Get some geek pride up in here! He's been our token Irish stereotype for over 30 years! Pour one out and when they ask who it's for, you look 'em in the eye and say, "It's for da Banshee, bitch!"

Then come on back here and testify.

(Thanks to Weapon Ick for this idea, which I totally stole. I don't think he was even being serious.)

I still miss Sean, and I'm ticked off at the flippant way they took him out. He's been a favorite of mine for years. I started reading Generation X solely for him. Le sigh. So much wasted potential.

No I'm serious. Drunk but serious.

Banshee was awsome. Here's to ya boyo!

Here's to Sean.

All the more believable, I say.

I mean, isn't that exactly what you'd say if he was a real guy you knew and he died just as suddenly? "Such a callous, meaningless death. So much potential lost forever..."

I think it was a lame death. *shrug*

Banshee. What can I say. One of the X-Men. Long time x-playa that....He held it down for the GenX fans. He cared about the kids. He can now rest with his beloved Moira. He shouldn't have gone so soon.

Hmm does Terry know?

This one's for you Irish homie. :(

Yes! Now that Tre has been here, I can consider this thread a success! Class it up, man! :D

I'm doing an booze-free Paddy's Day, so I'll just say a few words instead:

Sean brought history and maturity to the "All-New" team. I imagine his presence made it easier at the time for old-school fans to accept this new group of nobodies as being rooted in the MU.

But he also served to demonstrate the enormous shift the X-Men had taken, as he was often the most shocked or confused--despite his experienced, worldly outlook--by just how rough and alone these new teammates were. He was a social guy from an era where people, for the most part, felt comfortable with each other, so he was often a bit thrown by the loner tendencies of his new teammates. It was a very effective way to illustrate the generational and cultural differences--a way of telling readers that as much as Marvel continues to treat their older characters with respect, a time had come to move forward and acknowledge the changes in the world around them.

Certainly Banshee's later involvement throughout the years as the voice of experience was always a welcome addition to the books, whether it be an occasional guest spot or a regular role as co-headmaster of the Massachusetts Academy. The comfort in losing such an experienced character is that we can always look forward to flashback stories of his time with Interpol, the X-Men, Generation X, or Muir Island.

I want to know what Sean saw that made him freeze up as soon as he faced the blackbird. It was an odd thing. Mostly, I'm looking forward to a solid goodbye issue once everyone's had time to settle down from the events of Deadly Genesis.

We'll miss you, boyo.

And here are a few more words...

*ahem*

BEGORRAH! KISS ME BLARNEY STONE! IRISH SPRING! LUCKY CHARMS! I WANTS ME GOLD! ERIN GO BRA-LESS! PASS THE MICKEY'S!

Good riddance! He was a boring character. I HATE the way he died though......He should have died when Mystique slit his throat.

Excellent idea, Nobs! If you'll forgive my lateness to the wake, I'd like to propose a traditional Irish toast to our departed friend. *raises glass* Here's to Sean Cassidy- may he be in heaven a half-hour before the devil knows he's dead!

*drinks*

That's the best toast anyone can ever give. I want it done at my funeral.

But seriously...Sean I'll watch over your daughter. By over I mean I'll be on top and she'll be under me. Hopefully not screaming too loud.

luckily Generation X never really happened, so Emma won't mourn him, and Astonishing won't mention him.

He was not a boring character... Joe Casey just wrote him that way. I loved him when he would appear in Uncanny off and on through the years, and developed even further in GenX.

Banshee was one of my favorites, even before I read the series regularly. A scoundrel at times, a lawmen at others, an all around great characer to read. *raises glass* Cheers, all.

Indeed. All X-Men continuity over 2-5 years old didn't happen.

I'll miss Sean. Heck, I've been missing him since Generation X was cancelled, but he's not in obscurity anymore, he's just dead. Guess we never will get to see his reaction to Emma's prominent role on the team.

Factor Three

Factor Three relishes in the death of the Irish traitor!

The years of waiting have finally paid off and his elimination will surely be a sign to his fellow X-Men who have been thorns in our side for so long.

Factor Three will return. And humanity...shall perish.
