Personally I think it's great if he can stay on target.

Well, that's good news I suppose since I'm a traditional comics fan and I like seeing the big talent work on established characters.
Still, if he pulls a Joe Maduieria on WildSiderz, I'll officially be done with creator-owned books.

I didn't like Campbell's "WildSiderz"
I liked his Gen 13 & Danger Girl and his Spider-Man covers were really nice, but I am left asking myself ..........
Can he keep to a monthly schedule.
Finch did on NA, but he did take a break between story arcs.
Sadly I do not hold up much hope, but I will wait and see.
Just have him do Ultimates. We're used to it.

I think everyone has hit it on the head so far.
I think it is going to be impossible for Campbell to keep up with a monthly schedule, so even mentioning that he's exclusive, let alone actually doing it is an execise in futility. I could crap a dozen roses faster than he could get on a consistant and sustained production schedule.
The only thing I could conceivably see them doing is putting him on a couple of high profile mini-series. Not simultaneously, but consecutively. They SHOULD probably wait until he has completed a mini 100% before publishing it and allowing him to move on to the next.
You read all of the time about how creators like him are becomeing more and more inconsistant in production, but somehow it stirs excitement or their issues still sell, regardless.
You wonder how much more excitement they would stir if the fans could read the books more regularly and how many more issues would sell.
I think the bad taste of EXTREMELY slow production schedules and inconsistant production causes a lot of fans to drop off.
If only for the days of Shooter's NO LATE policies. He may have been an ass but at least our books were NEVER late. :evilsmile

I'm a Marvel guy more than anything else, and I do like Campbell's work so I guess this is good news.
Though a part of me doens't like it when artists or writers are exclusive to one company or another. There are times an exclusive artist or writer is working for one company when I sort of wish they were working on a book or project on another. Ah well.

This is great news!!! I ADORED his work on Gen13- he's a very talented artist, I'm glad Marvel snagged him away from Wildstorm/DC. I'm not really sure how I feel about having him on a Spiderman project, as I don't pick up that title, so dunno. I would LOVE if he pencilled an X-Men title though- that'd be hot. Ooh, maybe he could pencil a new Alpha Flight series- that would definately popularize the title for sure.

I am a huge fan of Campbell's art. Unfortunately, I didn't really dig the premise behind the comics he has done. Danger Girl and Gen13 seemed way too geared towards the "bad girls" trend and the stories didn't appeal to me. I still bought the issues, but mostly for the art.
Now I finally get his work on established superheroes. His pencils are perfectly suited to the character of Spider-Man. He truly captures his small, skinny build, and contorts his body into buglike shapes quite nicely.

I really love Campbell's art.
It's fun, vibrant, and full of energy. He did terrific Teen Titans/X-Men covers for Wizard as well. His style is perfectly well suited for Spider-Man since he did do those great covers in the beginning of JMS's run so I can't wait for his stuff. The only potential problem as mentioned is if he can keep up a timely schedule so hopefully he's given a good deal of advance time like Joe Mad to make it look seamless.
I'm actually surprised he didn't sign up with Marvel/ DC sooner since he's so good with the superhero stuff. Interestingly enough, Newsarama mentioned that he, Joe Mad, and Humberto Ramos (of the Cliffhanger threesome) are now all at Marvel which is weird as well as Marvel nabbing nearly all of the talent from the Seven Soldiers event (Pascual Ferry, Yanique, Simone Bianchi, unsure about Sook though).

He was fantastic on Gen13, but apparently you have not picked up any of his work since. As an artist he has improved, but his timeliness has declined definitely. I know mineral composites that move faster than he does. I pray that he never touches a title I love reading because it will mean a rotating cast of guest artists.

I remember the 1995 era of Michael Turner, Joe Mad, Jim Lee, and J. Scott Campbell all drawing my favorite books of the time. It's VERY good to hear J. Scott will be doing some Marvel work. I know he always had a special love for Spider-Man but I wouldn't mind him doing some Minis as well.
Awesome. I do love those SM covers.
Sounds like he will be on a mini based on that interview, unless "special project" means yet another ongoing spider title (unlikely since there are three already).

AWESOME! Now I can see that great J. Scott art I love, without having to "read" Wildsliderz. That book is pretty to look at and... that's about it.

Ha ha- I hafta agree. It will be nice to see him paired with good writing again. I just reread my Gen13 collection. We need more ass shots up girl's skirts in comics.
