I have recently started getting back into T-bolts, but I can't seem to figure Genis's history out. I have read the Wikipedia article on him, and used to read his mini a few years back when he was linked to Rick Jones. There are a few things that don't add up to me, so I'm gonna break down what I know and hope I can get some things straightened up.

1: His father had no powers orginally...he got them from that vapor that gave him cancer and the Nega bands if memory serves me correctly. Then he became protector of the universe or whatever and died, then Quasar got the Quantam bands and became his replacement.

2: His mother impregnated herself with his dad's DNA, and was aged on purpose to take up his fathers place...although why would he do that if Quasar was doing that?

3: He seems to have innate powers...cosmic type powers, but why? His parents didn't, is he some sort of cosmic mutant that just was born with them?

4: He got his dad's Nega bands and was not linked to Rick Jones at first...but went to the future and came back and was then linked? I don't really understand what happened here. So he has his natural powers, and the Nega band powers but has to do the clinky thing to swap out with Jones, but then latter doesn't need to be linked to him anymore?

5: Why does he look like stars?

6: He absorbed the Nega bands and became cosmic aware and went nuts.

7: Get beat down by Atlas and regenerated from it.

Any help on any of these is welcomed. This is what I know...or think I know and would like to be corrected.

He got them from the nega-bands. I think he already had his powers before the incident with the gas.

No, Genis was aged on purpose because they were afraid that a helpless infant would be a tempting target for Mar-Vell's enemies looking for revenge. It had nothing to do with taking his father's place (in fact, Genis didn't even know Mar-Vell was his father for a while).

The nega-bands energies had an impact on Mar-Vell's physiology...that was passed along to his children. Genis had latent powers, which were not activated until after he got his own nega-bands.

No, he had his own copies of the bands.

Genis didn't go to the future--it was a future version of Genis who merged with Rick Jones from the present in order to save his life. When Rick returned to his own time, that merge pulled the Genis from our time and merged him with Rick.

No--they are the same; his latent powers were activated by the bands and channelled through the bands.

Rick and Genis were bonded for a while, but were eventually separated.

5: Why does he look like stars?

The same reason his father did--it is a side effect of his cosmic awareness. When he is using his CA, he looks like stars.

6: He absorbed the Nega bands and became cosmic aware and went nuts.

He didn't absorb the bands until *after* the Atlas incident. He became cosmically aware when he bonded with Rick (that merge triggered his latent CA, which he inherited from his father).
The CA eventually drove him insane, yes.
