Draw-backs of Powers [Possible (and minor IMO) Spoilers About Son of M]

After reading one of the threads about Son of M and some of the characters getting their powers but it having huge drawbacks made me think about how some of the X-men and other familiar powers could have their abilities turned against them if they went haywire or ultra-powered.

I can think of the one instance where Psylocke had her powers upped by Fabian Cortez and she went a bit insane but she still recovered a bit. Gambit would uncontrollably blow things up! Shadowcat was stuck in her phased state and she would scatter. Also, in X-treme X-men, Storm's powers almost killed her when that storm came about.

But now for some imagination. What if Colossus' powers got so strong that eveything he touched sort of crumbled to dust? And what if (I know he's dead but..) Maggot's intestines ate him? What if (yeah, depowered I know)Marrow's bones cut through her organs? What if (depowered) Polaris attracts every single metal thing to her skin and suffocates herself? And what if Moonstar's worst fears haunt her? Loads of X-men have potential hazards that can happen with their powers.

Emma's psi powers flare out of control and she's unable to block out all the thoughts from everyone around her except by shifting to her diamond form where she is incapable of feeling emotions.

No, because his optic blasts are just absorbed into his body. It doesn't effect him, otherwise he wouldn't have any eyelids.

i'm reading a book right now called the physics of superheros by james kakalios. it may sound ridiculous, but it's a fantastic book. he actually makes superman believable.
