Yeah, I know, it says "Spider-Girl Presents" on the cover, and in his universe he's a member of the Avengers, but since this book has a lot of roots in the X-books, I thought I'd post it here.
I thought this was a cute and enjoyable little collection, lots of slug-fests, and some of the original villians are sort of iffy (I think Deflaco was trying to use guys who J2 couldn't just power his way through), but it's still good fun. In comparision to Spider-Girl, there's actualy several smaller stories in each issue, rather that one long one. One part I thought was sort of iffy was that a few references in events to A-Next, when the digest for that isn't out yet (although of course, there's always back issue hunting, which shouldn't be too hard), were a little off-putting, but nothing really got in the way.
Zane is a pretty enjoyable lead, though it takes a little bit for him to find his "hero voice", and it's also interesting to see what the X-Men are like in this timeline (anti-mutans sentiment is on a downswing), and Jubilee even leads the group (although everyone jokes that she's horrible at naming teams. The current squad is called "The X-People").
Enjoyable all around though.
