Thats kind of a wierd choice considering she's not an X-Man. She does have her ties though, but I still think they could have done someone a bit more closely linked to the X-Men. Oh well, I love the character and will read it anyway!

Captain Britain, Meggan, Blink, X-Man, Wildchild, Shaman, Talisman II, Sasquatch, Pete Wisdom, Wolfsbane, Karma, Magik, Magik II, Multiple Man, Scarlet Witch, Snowbird, Diamond Lil, Marrina, Magma, Mystique, the Phoenix Force, and Warpath are all not X-Men.

This is true, but a lot of those characters have closer ties to the X-verse than Ms. Marvel does. She's more of an MU character not an X-character. Besides, I just see it as lazy on their behalf considering its "uncannyxmen.net" and they haven't even done all the characters that have actually been X-men. They should get current and former X-members done before they go into characters that just tie in.

I was a bit suprised they put a spotlight on Carol too, but I'm glad with every spotlight they put in there. I think they put a lot of work/ effort in it. And be honest, there will never be enought spotlight to satisfy every fan.

Oh, I'm not questioning the effort at all, I know they bust their asses on those spotlights. It just makes more sense to me that they would do all the characters relevant to the subject matter of the website first rather than characters that have only played minor rolls over the course of 40+ years.
I think I've read every spotlight they have and have also enjoyed them, but the whole, "choose your own character to spotlight" thing is just kind of dumb.

But yeah I was chuffed to see the Ms Marvel one, their choices are random, but still good to see her get some coverage with her new series and damn I never knew she was that complicated.

Yeah, that's probably the best part about those things is that they do show things that we didn't realize before and took the characters for more than just face value.

Fishtaco, we should be getting Cecilia Reyes and Aurora spotlights sometime in the near future--Cecilia Reyes won the vote for that silhouette contest and a poster who won the contest chose Aurora. :)
This was very interesting, though I was surprised to see she got a spotlight. Seeing as how spotlights take that much time, I agree with the wish that we got more X-Men or spin-off X-characters.
As long as we don't get a Captain America spotlight though, it's all good (though props to the people behind the scenes at uxm.net. I wish there could be a MU site just like it.)
I'm personally hoping for a spotlight on M next.

Why would it be a joke?
We don't need all of those spotlights to survive, therefore they aren't actually a NEED, they're a want.I was referring to technicality. Why would anyone want a spotlight for half those characters anyway?Because unlike you, UXN is un-biased. As long as the character has been a cast member of an ongoing book, is X-related, and has some sort of history, the character gets a spotlight. Why the nasty tone? Cause they were created by Chris Claremont silly! And Claremont is god! Lol. Mimic, Magneto, Wolverine, Cecelia Reyes, Stacy-X, Xorn, Beak, X-23, Agent X, Agent Zero, AOA Sabretooth, Namora, Holocaust, Spider-Man 2099, Nocturne, Rictor, Meltdown II, Domino II, Rusty Collins, Skids, Copycat, Shatterstar II, Feral, Persuasion, Guardian, Vindicator II, Puck, Aurora, Morph, Mimic (Exiles), Firestar, Quiksilver, Greystone, Shard, Artie Maddicks, Skin, Synch, M II, M-Twins, Gaia, Threnody, Cerise II, Feron, Micromax, Icarus, Surge IV, Icarus, Elixir, Prodigy III, Dust II, Hellion, Mercury V, Rockslide, Wallflower, Winddancer, Deadpool, and Box IV are all non-Claremont creations. You need to stop being an asshole to others because of their opinions, especially if you don't know what you're talking about. I don't give you crap, so there's no reason for you to give me crap. You attack me for every post I make. Even the non-negative ones. Get a life. :evilangry

I think my point was very valid thank you!
Why would anyone want a spotlight on Gaia when they could read her entire history in about 3 issues of Generation X! Rather pointless don't you think!
And who actually cares about such minor characters anyway.
Spotlights should only be given to those that have made an impact on the X-Men in some way, not someone who appeared under one writer for 6 issues then soon departed for limbo land.

They probably can't be arsed with a Wolverine one. Its a lot of reading, plus certain things they are probably not sure if they actually happened or not. What with the false memories and stuff.

Ditto, if they did all the big hitters first, it would make it run out real fast as an editorial piece (plus as lonesome pointed out - the randomness is cool, you never know what you're gonna get). Though I don't think some newer/lesser used characters have the meat for one as yet.
So currently biased on the Ms M one though.

There really aren't that many characters left to make spotlights for that can be considered major X-characters with a lot of revealed backstory. Wolverine, Magneto, and Sunspot are pretty much it, if I'm not forgetting anybody else. UXN can probably pump out a lot more spotlights by focusing a lot on the smaller (yet still significant) characters that would probably consist of 1-3 pages. UXN is a popular site, and I think making spotlights for these less popular characters would promote the character's popularity. UXN seems to have influenced the X-Office in a way. The editors seem to be using the site a lot to help. A lot of these characters have huge potential, and it should be recognized.

Yep. They started spotlighting some of the lesser-known history characters and then expanded outward. Dazz was one of the first spotlights.
It was really to chronicle the histories of some of the more interesting but lesser known characters. It's grown a lot though.

Considering that Rogue's theft of Carol Danvers' memories and original power set impacted her storyline over the course of a hundred issues or so of UXM, how could you say that Ms. Marvel "isn't part of the X-Men mythos"? After Avengers Annual #10, Carol Danvers became a part of the X-Men's world. Carol shared a history with Wolverine; she hung around the X-Mansion until Rogue became a member; she became Binary during the X-Men's first clash with the Brood; Mystique was one of Carol's most vicious enemies. Again, why SHOULDN'T Ms. Marvel receive mention on an X-Men fanboard?

Word. There are so many that are 2+ years old and missing good chunks of continuity now. Its not like it would take that long to update them now anyway, it would require less work than what they put into new spotlights.
It has been a long time since I have been there, I forgot how many spotlights they actually have. Most of the major players have been covered, but what I really wanna see are spotlights on some of the X-villians; Magneto, Apocolypse, Mr. Sinister, Omega Red, Sabretooth, Avalanche, Pyro, Blob, etc. I think they've played larger roles in X-history than some of the minor supporting characters. Not to mention that many of them have touched other parts of the MU that I don't know about.

Karma, Magma and Wolfsbane technically were reserve X-Men while serving as instructors. Daytripper and Multiple Man were part of the interim Muir Island X-Men. Mystique and Warpath are going to be X-Men by this summer.
