I'm buying ES: Oblivion on both the XBOX360 and the PC. I'm going to be playing both versions simultaneously, taking different paths through the game and so forth.
Am I crazy?

Wouldn't it be easier to just start 2 separate save files?

Nope. If I had the money to do that, I'd be doing it to.
It actually makes a bit of sense, too. I haven't read any reviews about Oblivion or anything, but if I had to I'd guess the 360 version would be a bit more stable since it would be optimized for a standardized system, while the PC version gives you access to things like mods. Best of both worlds, really.
I'm guessing, though. Could be a bit off.

I'm also going to write up a tech report comparing the two versions.
For those of you worried about the system requirements of the PC version, I'm going to benchmark the game on all 3 of my PCs to see how it runs on really high end systems, mid range systems, and low end systems. I'll post the results (and probably some screenshots) here.
As for the 360 version. I'm going to test the game on a variety of displays:
1) My computer monitor (using VGA cable) with the res maxed out.
2) The HD projector in the back room (using component)
3) The 50" NON-HD TV (the size of the TV, and the fact that it isn't HD will surely ensure that graphical glitches will be easy to spot)
4) The crappy old 32" basic CRT TV in my room using composite! :evilsmile
We'll see what kind of difference all this stuff makes.

You've got more willpower than I do. I tried playing Condemned like that and while back and couldn't turn the HD back on fast enough

Yes you are crazy, if nothing else for blowing 100+ dollars like that. I wish I had that kind of dough to toss around......2 copies of the same game?
/sigh

In the UK I AM (practically) Mister Gamestation. This means I get my games at a vastly reduced price. Furthermore, that vastly reduced price is covered by the good people at Strathclyde Law School.
God bless student loans!
Then no, you aren't crazy.
Though, if i were you, i'd buy the pc version, take the other 60 bucks, buy a couple bottles of liquor and snack foods, tell my girlfriend im dead, and hide out in my room for a weekend playing the game.

Well, that's always an option too. Like the Bush Administration, I never rule anything out, I like to keep all options on the table.
Can't wait to hear Patrick Stewart and his Son -Sean Bean- in the game (PS is the voice actor for the Emperror. SB plays his Son)

I did not know that. Now I really can't wait to get my hands on the game (plus a "real" septium).
