Congratualtions to howyadoin, who won our Circus/Carnival Draw Off with this gorgeous entry:

If you look at the poll it was a close vote, but unfortunately tckjr was disqualified for registering a second ID and casting the 'winning' vote with it.

Thanks to all who voted, and many thanks to howyadoin and PunkMC for participating!
Be well.

Howy, check yer PM's for prize info.

Congrats, Bret! :) I'm hoping to try to give you and the other folks here a run for your money with the next contest... :D ;)

tckjr: dude, I can understand the temptation... but really, you'll go much farther in life letting your work stand on it's own merit. Winning isn't everything; take the fact that you got votes and some good praise for the work as a reward in and of itself. In the end, having other people able to see something of what you yourself tried to portray, and say, with a piece, is the best (and most honest) reward of all.

I know it gets *me* hyped! :D (And take it from me... I've lost a TON of art contests on Neopets. Sometimes with work that I just *knew* would win, or at least place... and at times, even losing to work that I'd look at and think "but mine was better." When it comes to contests, decisions on winners (either by judges or by voting method) depends on a lot of factors. It's not just quality of work, it's also what kind of style the judge/voters find most appealing for that particular contest, what the work "says" to them, the mood the work "evokes" in them, etc. All three pieces were great, and each had their own individual style, all had good quality of workmanship, and each gave a different view into the contest subject. Don't let "desire to win" blind you to all that, and that different people are going to vote, or judge, differently, depending on how the work "hits" them... especially when all of the work in question is very good stuff.)

Anyhow, when I don't win a contest, I just pick up and start a new pic for the next one. I've probably submitted at least 40 pics in their two art contests over there... and got a second place once, and a third place once. I know eventually I'll get a first... in the meantime, it's fun trying, and it serves as a spur to me to keep trying new things, and to try to make each picture better in some way than the last one was.

nicely done howy! :D

as for the pic, did you actually draw more of a pic and then edited it, or was your goal to just draw a part of the tiger's face?

Y'know, I've been giving this a lot of thought, and as much as I appreciate the compliments, winning this specific contest doesn't mean much since the main competitor cheated.

How 'bout we declare this a mistrial or something and just move onto the next contest?
