i barely started reading it this january and caught up to issue 5 really fast. It basically comes out like quarterly or something. I like the book, great art, intriguing story. I wonder how long it will last especially with the new Marvel deal. However, I believe it was top cows highest selling book when it is out.
Hunter-Killer doesn't have a true release schedule. Sometimes as much as 3 or 4 months can pass between issues. It's not surprising when you consider that Waid has other writing duties at DC and Silvestri is busy running his own company and doing covers for Marvel.

It's a damn good book. Too bad about the release schedule. So far there has been five issues (six if you count #0), a dossier, and a scriptbook. If you have that, you're up to date.

I was just thinking the other day how i was afraid that i missed a copy, and i work in a comic shop. The new previews had a solicitation for issue 9 or something like that and i was afraid that i had missed a bunch of issues. But i dont think any issues have come out since #5.
Hunter-Killer #7 is finished and #8 is half done.
They're still working on #6.

Correct me if I'm wrong: Silvestri is doing #6 and Ebas will be doing the next few after that. Right?
As much as I love Silvestri's art, I almost wish he would abandon the book entirely, so that we can get a monthly schedule going. It pains me to say that, but man alive, I'm getting old.

I enjoy this series also, but with this lateness I'm getting to the point of droping it...I don't want to, but man I tell you...

Yeah i can understand your anger over the lateness. Its very hard to read books so far apart especially when youre always looking forward to the next issue. But, for me, i like the book's story too much to just drop it. Plus I understand that this book probably isnt a priority for anyone involved (plus Silvestri is slow) so ill keep on buying it. Especially since most of the issues are little self contained storys with one longer running story in the background. I think its too good to walk away from this early on.

Can't drop it. I look at it as a pleasant suprise whenerver it does come out.

Where'd you see this info? I'm with some of the others in this thread, it's a decent series, but it's not so outstanding that the delays between issues doesn't hurt the experience for me. I'll pick up the next issue, but that might be the last one for me.

No one should drop it right now. Once Ebas takes over on art, it will only increase the chances of it shipping on time. For once, we might get it on a regular basis. If you've hung on this long, you shouldn't drop it.
Where'd you see this info?
I got that info on Top Cow boards from their EIC.

As much as I love the book I'm dropping the book at the end of the first arc. I would not have picked it up in the first place had I known about the release schedule. I love Mark and Marc but I don’t like reading books where I have to reread everything just to be caught up about what transpired before.

Well, they do have a recap page, which is more than I can say for DC.
And I don't want to seem pushy, but you are aware that 100% of the reason that the release schedule got messed up was because of the art, right? And you are aware that a new art team is taking over next issue, right?

The first issue of Hunter/Killer shipped in November of 2004. I’m sorry but that book has lost my trust and when the arc ends I’m switching to trades no matter who takes over. Again let me reiterate that both Marc and Mark are the best at what they do and they are going to get my dollars for years to come. Also I’m collecting a lot of books in trades that have burned me on the release date so I‘m not just picking on these guys. The three that pop to mind are Batman/Superman, Planetary, and the Ultimates. All are fine books that are well wroth the price of admission but were dropped to long shipping schedules. My opinion, and that all it is, is that waiting one month between issues, while necessary, is an incredibly long delay. When you add more months I lose interest in the monthly and would much rather read the full arc when it finally released in trade which generally isn‘t that long after the last issue in an arc ships.

Glad I found this thread... I too am getting very fed up with the shipping schedule (or lack thereof) on this book. I picked it up just based on the creators... I found it to be pretty interesting... nothing amazing, but better than some other stuff out there...
Last night as I was culling my collection, I had to choose to either abandon this title and get rid of the issues I already have or bag and board them... I flipped back through a few issues and decided to keep them, but now I'm thinking, pretty seriously, about reversing that decision.
I don't want a creator change... I want the people who started the book to do it in a timely manner.......

Yeah i have to say that pretty much any book that calls itself a monthly should at least be out once a month. Ok how about every other month, or at least quarterly. And for gods sake at least stop soliciting the next issues in PREVIEWS when an issue hasnt come out in 4 months. Also, Mark Waid did an interview with Wizard a few years back talking crap about Bendis and how hes too wordy and not enough action. Well at least his books come out on time and hes writing 5 different books right now.

Top Cow is really dropping the ball with this comic. It is well written, interesting, and the art is decent. Hunter-Killer has been one of the better Top Cow books to come out in a long time, but because of the mis-frequent shipping times the book has lost any potential ability to suck in new readers.
This book could have put Top Cow on the map again in terms of a comic book company. Marc and Company seem to be focusing on multi-media projects such as the anime, video games, and movies now for their company.

I agree, this was their best selling book from what I remember. This book was a great concept and with great Silvestri art. I dont know what the deal is, they must really not be working on it at all.
