Yup- for £180.
It was either that or an ipod. all 28 volumes. which is around £6 per volume but considering this includes postage and packagaging for all the volumes (shipping from the usa) all in all its worth it if its as good as ppl say it is.
But what can i expect???
I heared this was one of the best mangas out there and this intrigued me as a newbie more than say akira- parts of which i have read. and what other manga do you recomend as there seems to be alot of throwaway manga on the shelves at the book stores these days....

Expect awesomeness and badassery galore. Great art, amazing stories, and a slow start. Things that seem not to matter, just one-offs become vital later on.
And expect to hero worship Ogami and Daigoro for years to come.

Expect to read it when it arrives so we don't have to explain it to you. Haha! I jest. But seriously, what is with people who buy something, then ask for input and reviews before they get it? Wouldn't it just be easier to read some online reviews, then decide if purchasing it is something you really want? Or why not wait until it does arrive, and if you genuinely enjoyed it, post your opinions. I'm all for sharing my thoughts about this or that and having educated conversations for sure! But this kind of thing makes no sense (IMO).
And to answer your second question: there are losts of wonderful manga to get into. I highly recommend "Vagabond" as it has some of the best art EVER. It's also a Samurai non-fiction. That's right, it's a historical text!
Really it depends on where your reading interests lie. Manga offer larger genre selections than most mainstream American comics. You can find Manga about gay male on male love, stories on cooking, all the way down to your standard action adventure titles. There are historical works, biographies such as Osamu's "Adolf Hitler" biography, etc. You can find about anything. It really comes down to focusing your search to something you're interested in.
Also, art styles vary a lot in manga. If you're into art more so than story, manga's got it all. Surreal, realistic, characature, anime-ish, gothic, etc., you can find any style anytime.

It's very, very good, possibly the best researched samurai story out there. There are some stretches that are just padding -- interesting stories but Itto Ogami and Dairo are just observers, not participants -- but all in all well worth the price.
