I just stumbled across this picture at a medical website that covers super hero stuff. Scroll down, and there's a seen with a shattered frozen kid from the Firebird one shot. I'm morbidly curious, what's the story there? Anyone know?

Firebirds was a oneshot from last year (or the year before I forget) by Jay Faerber (Noble Causes). It was a very solid "Mother/Daughter" hero yarn, unique in many ways in that respect. I wish there would be more.

That particular scene was rather disturbing, as children being killing with such brutality in comics is pretty rare, even in todays "muture" market. But it's gut wrenching moments like that that make the best comics.

The one-shot is like 6 bucks for 32 pages (or 48, I forget), so check it out if you can find it.

What's the story behind that particular scene though?

Ice badguy is attacking some poor slob over something (it's been awhile) froze his kid as threat, then smashes the poor kid when he doesn't get what he wants.
