With my sudden realization yesterday that this is already out, um, wow, did that slip out under the radar. Seemed like there was an insane amount of anticipation... then....it came out last month?!
Anyone play this? If so, it any good? Any comparisons to other MMO's?

I played a few days of the stress test.
I tried to build a sneaky rogue character and I could barely solo the first dungeon, that later on I had to party up for everything which was a drag.
Comparetively I rolled up a warrior and was able to solo for the first couple of quests that there seems to be too much emphasis on the hack and slash.
But im probably upset that with a grand total of +10 to my disable device skill that every single trap I tried to disable in the early dungeons blew up in my face.
Personally I didn't care too much for the character designs they seemed dull and uninspiring. When the characters hair paths through your clothing something is wrong there.
Shame really, I was getting bored with WoW too.

Interesting. I glanced through the main site forums, and there's a big thing about the devs having said something like there are no plans for PVP at this time (which I personally am indifferent to). What came up after that, was that the classes are not balanced in the slightest, even in PVE.
The big thing to the game is that it's supposed to go by D&D 3.5 rules, so the class balancing, or lack thereof, makes sense in that regard, I guess.

I guess thats true to an extenct, but they also make you buy your stats with a point system, another thing I detest.
We're supposed to be heros and heros and uber damnit. ><
I've never rolled up a character with a stat lower than 12. :p
But seriously a Rogue with Dual Wield, Weapon Focus, short swords and a 16 Dex, I couldn't fight my way out of a wet paper bag and that made it a drag.

I'm currently playing WoW, but I'm about done. Depends on patch 1.10. I was looking at D&D but I'm think I'm gonna pass. Pretty much every MMO falls into the same retarded trap over and over again

Pfft, you'll get no pity from me. I'm a warrior. The only thing patches mean to me is another nerf

I got it last Friday and here's how it went:
Friday night: Install and play for a few hours getting my feet under me.
Saturday: Work all day and get home late, log onto DDO: Server's Down, no ETA.
Sunday: Do stuff around house and log into DDO: Server's down, no ETA.
Nice game Turbine
From what I did play, it seemed O.K. but WOW still holds my interest more.
Well some on other forums, fans of rpg's are saying that the current AND F-R-E-E version of Dungeons and Dragons online is very wonderful!!
Though there might be some issues still with the downloading, though there are many links to how to download the game without any problems.
So...I have not heard about this in a while, but was thinking about joining, particularly since it was free and some are ranting about it. Anyone else have any updates on this free online game?

I tried it out with a paladin/rogue. It would be a great game if combat didn't suck so bad.

it's like playing a bad legend of zelda clone with other people
but hey it's free.

the posts I read about it, were from people who also very much enjoy rpg'ing. So, taken that stance, as it may not be a good video game, maybe it's more enjoyable as an 'addition' for those who like to pen & paper game?
