View Full Version : Kevin Maguire on new Bat-Title
CURSD BLADE

Fabian Nicieza and Kevin Maguire (http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0603/05/index.htm) are the creative team on three issues of the new Batman: Confidenential. The purpose of this new ongoing is unknown to me when this could have easily been in Legends of the Dark Knight, but to see these two working on Batman is awesome news.

Ummm.... wasn't the whole point of 'Confidential' to team an established and successful pro with a new talent for an arc? That didn't work out, I take it? I shouldn't knock it until I see it, but if this is just 'LOTDK' with a really lame title (I mean, come on... 'Legends of the Dark Knight', how do you top that? Certainly not with 'Confidential'), I'll be disappointed.

Though I certainly won't be disappointed to see Maguire on a Batbook, regardless of what its called. It'll be nice to see him on something a little more serious for a change.

Not sure how serious it'll be with him and Nicieza.
Either way I'm excited!

Ah, screw it. I'm excited about this regardless of how goofy it'll be.

It's good branding policy, I would expect a Superman Confidential as some point too.

Maguire's one of the best in the world at facial expressions, but my favorite part of "Formerly Known As..." was that Batman was always drawn in complete shadowy silhouette, even in broad daylight. For my money, that was the best joke of the book.

Awesome! Maguire rocks like a Magikist! He's a master at facial expressions, so I'm looking forward to seeing Bruce's sour expressions in detail. :)

That may have been part of the point of the 'confidential' titles, but the main point is to be able to talk about stories from any time in the batverse. Considering this was exactly what LotDK was doing, it made sense to call it 'Confidential' when you consider we already have JLA: Confidential and JSA: Confidential.

Hmm...so is it Selina meeting Barbara, Selina meeting Cassie, or the new Catwoman meeting Cassie?

Given this is the 'Confidential' line, it's going to be old Catwoman and either Cas or Babs. Definately not the new Catwoman.

Sounds interesting, but I don't really think that we need yet another monthly Batman comic.
I imagine this is the first meeting of Selina and Barbara.

Has Nicieza ever written for DC before?

Will Batman get out of the Batmobile in this comic?

Aren't those books under the 'Classified' banner? So, unless I'm mistaken, and I probably am, it's not really good branding policy. As you may have just demonstrated, if I'm right, it's actually kinda confusing.

"Will Batman get out of the Batmobile in this comic?"
Yeah, it's as if All-Star Batman is becoming a Happy Meal toy.
I've been having fun with the title, though. It's hilarious. Could've been a Confidential arc instead of the All-Star title.....

JSA and JLA have "CLASSIFIED" spin-offs, while Batman and Superman are rumoured to have "CONFIDENTIAL" spin-offs.
This from the marketing whizzes who gave us the All-Star line, which most of us are still trying to figure out.

This is great news! Nicienza is one of my favourite writers. I loved his run on the X-Men. He really has a talent for fleshing out characters and showing their different layers. I can't wait to see what he does on Batman.
