Are we excited about his Batman run?

Um, yes. I'm very, very excited about his Batman run. I think he's probably the greatest writer working in comics today, aside from Alan Moore. Hell, depending which day of the week it is, he might be better these days. I'm pretty sure there's already a few threads about this, though, but whatever.

I'm excited, and worried at the same time. Morrison is sometimes seen as a hit/miss kind of guy. I have a feeling that this will either be great, or just something that pisses a lot of people off. Let's home it's the former and not the latter.

He's the best writer in mainstream comics. I couldn't be more thrilled.

I'm semi-excited... he's a big fan of Batjerk it appears (based on his JLA run) and I thought DC was moving away from that somewhat.
In all honesty I wish James Robinson was staying on or Shane McCarthy got the job.

I don't know about that. He's written at least two separate Batmen - the repressed, damaged lunatic of Arkham Asylum, and the scary, "anything Superman can do, I can do better" Batman of the JLA, as well as a little aside in All Star Superman ("He's great. You know Batman...") which indicates a much lighter character. I think he's also stated that this Batman will be more similar to the O'Neil/Adams/Englehart/Rogers Batman than he has been in recent times.
I'm excited because he's brilliant.

Don't forget the "Sci-Fi Closet" Batman of JLA Classified. ;)
I'm cautiously optimistic. If they just let Morrison run wild and do his own thing, it'll be great. If they get heavy-handed with editorial interference, crossovers, and other distractions, then it'll be much less interesting.

I don't know about that. He's written at least two separate Batmen - the repressed, damaged lunatic of Arkham Asylum, and the scary, "anything Superman can do, I can do better" Batman of the JLA ...
He also wrote a five part arc named "Gothic" in early LoTDK, which was rather nice.
As for my learned opinion on Grant Morrison, he s*its gold bricks. He's easily within the top two DC writers (Kyle Baker being the other candidate - Alan Moore no longer does DC work, right?), produces quality stories with at least a 90% consistency, and whatever title he's on is almost guaranteed to be better for it. Occasionally he gets so hopped up on mescaline that he forgets to include an actual plot and characterization and submits just a bunch of gibberish to the editors (who don't dare change a word because c'mon, he's Grant Morrison and knows better than they do), and the ending of WE3 was a cheat, but those are rare occurrences. There isn't a more reliable guy than he in their roster.

In all honesty I wish James Robinson was staying on or Shane McCarthy got the job.Wow, we really are of one mind these days.
Morrison will be good, though, as long as he lands somewhere in between the all-powerful Batman from JLA and the semi-suicidal basket case from BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM.

I'm cool with Grant Morrison on Batman. As stated above, he seems to like Batman...a lot. And If we are getting something akin to the O'Neill Batman, that would be fun. And while Morrison has been known to crank out some...uhm, well not very good stories....his good stories out-weigh the bad by a lot. I think Morrison will do whatever he can to make Batman a good, exciting, fun, and Dark read.

I'm excited....yeah Grant Morrison has his detractors like most creators do. But between him or Geoff Johns , DC nailed a home run here. Putting one of thier signature writers on a signature book. Now who will do art ? ( crosses fingers its Van Scier )
My only problems are his final issues. His close on JLA and X-Men to me wasn't as good. But hell...I'lll take his overall work and deal . ;)

C'Mon! Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert on ANY title is going to be amazing. They could be the creative team on The Monthly Adventures of The Guys Who Dryclean Superman's Tights and it would make fanboys crazy. Anyhow, I think these guys will be perfect for the character.

The great thing about Grant Morrison is that he has this uncanny ability to make the basic formula in mainstream titles like JLA, X-Men, and Superman seem fresh and alive, takes those concepts as far as they can possibly go...and then kicks them into overdrive. And interestingly enough, no matter how weird things get, they always seem to make sense and makes one wonder "why didnt anybody think of this before?" If he's making Batman more reminiscent of how he was depicted during the classic Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams run, then were bound to see some of the most exciting Batman stories to come out of that comic in years. Oh, and with Andy Kubert on the title, you can lay down good money that their first issue together will definately be in the top five, if not number 1.

I'm not one of the "Grant Morrison is God" fanboys.
When he's good, he's very, very good but when he's bad he's awful.
His JLA run, We3, Vimanarama, Animal Man and more all show just how good he can be when he wants to.
Seaguy (and maybe The Invisibles, I have only read the 1st trade so I am reserving judgment till I have read more) show how bad he can be when he wants to. I know that many people enjoyed Seaguy, but I found it to be as if Morrison was being deliberately obtuse and unaccessable.
Batman is my all time fav character, so I like to see what each writer does with him even when it sucks, but I truly hope Morrisons run will be worth it.

I love pretty much everything Morrison does. I'm not so sure that Batman is the best outlet for his talent (I like him more on the weirder stuff), but I'm sure it will be good.

Morrison already said that Batman's gonna be the "O'Neil hairy chest love god" or something along those lines, which basically means he's taking the current DC memorandum of "less batdick" and taking it to the next great level. Robinson has set the stage for the new era of Batman, and Morrison is gonna take it to the WHOLE next level!
... any chance to hear Batman remind Alfred not "to let his friends in the GCPD know about the Sci-Fi closet" is good for me.

Extremely excited, self contained, inventive fanatstical stories are exactly what I want to see in Batman and Morrison does those best.
While Morrison does overcompress and some of his original work is too "funky"/psychadelic, most of his work is excellent and I intend to buy every damn issue of Batman that he writes.

I basically feel the same way. There can only be one thing when he writes.Im trying to be fair, since he was the one who first caused Uncanny`s decline.
