I was pretty pumped to find out that Satoshi Shiki did not die. He reportedly fell ill during Riot and discontinued the series. Then he never continued Riot, which irked me because I enjoyed it.
Well, Shiki's back with Kami-Kaze and...he's different. This book is more dark than Riot...much less whimsical. But it looks as though it might end up making more sense, storywise in the end.
I don't like the first volume so much because Shiki likes to bombard the reader with a dense bundle of information from the onset of his stories and let it unravel and make sense as the story progresses. His philosophy is "hit the ground running." In any case, this one looks like a straight foward action story, plenty of gore, there's a couple boobies (okay, fine, those tend to hang out in pairs), and a lot of superpowers.
Okay, I'll admit it. It's just nostalgia that led me to purchase this book.
