MIT student Carl Dietrich has invented a car that flies (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11567348/site/newsweek/).

Whatever you call the new Transition, says its inventor, Carl Dietrich, just don't call it a flying car.

Shut up! It's a car, and it flies! What else are we gonna call it?

God, I hate self-loathing nerds. It's a flying car, you schmuck. Embrace the pulpish wonder of your creation.

That, and show us pictures. FLYING CAR STORIES WITHOUT PICTURES ARE LIKE... um... my hyperbolic simile fell apart halfway through because I'm so upset at not having any pictures of said flying car.

Why are there no pictures?!

Although I'm more worried about his desktop nuclear furnace thing.

"and since it flies twice as fast as you could go in a car, it effectively doubles the distance you can travel on a weekend jaunt."

Err... "Roads? Where we're going, we don't NEED roads."

If you don't have to stick to the highways, you MORE than just DOUBLES the distance you can travel. Instead of driving along lines A and B of a triangle, you can just take C!

Yeah. My brother can't even program his alarm clock; I dunno if I want him to have access to fissionable material.

Edit: To say nothing of the eventual dashboard nuclear reactor, that you can put... in your flying car.

Dont worry, Mr. Fusion made it easy to use.

A Pinto with wings. Can't imagine how they couldn't move those.

The same thing that happens to a plane, I'd imagine.

Yeah, but pilots don't land at airports and go "$5 on pump 2". But then, this isn't something most people would have, so I guess worrying about cheap bastards flying with the needle on E shouldn't be much of a concern :)

Oddly enough i have just staggered home from the pub and the Hasslehoff Nick Fury film is on ITV with flying cars galore-ish.

Okay, let's see the checklist...

Flying car? Check.
Personal robot? Check. (http://world.honda.com/ASIMO/)
Jet-Pack?

Where the hell is my jet-pack?

No, not that silly gimmick they trot out for the Super Bowl with its two minutes of flight time. I want a real jet-pack with at least a 50 mile range and speeds over 75 miles an hour that allows for cool aerobatic stunts. Like what the Rocketeer used.

Screw the desktop fusion reactor. This is what real nerds want.

I dunno, man. You really wanna look over and see this dude (http://uk.geocities.com/zaz_fan/zaz_web_pages/air32.gif) next to you in the carpool lane?
