Since there's been a lot of discussion about what will tie into the Civil War event, and I'm just getting into it myself... I figured I'd be helpful and post the roadmap that was included in the most recent Previews. The first post of this thread will also be updated as we learn more issues and books that tie into the event, with the monthly solicits. If this is unnecessary, feel free to delete. I figured it would just be a handy refrence tool.

I can't wait for both the Illuminati Special and the Fantastic Four Civil War books.
Good thread Beast, I assume you're going to just pick up the main Civil War mini and Young Avengers/X-Men stuff or you doing it like me HoM style and getting all the books involved?

I actually haven't decided yet what I'm going to do. I'll get the Young Avengers/Runaways and the X-Men: Civil War book. I pretty much have no interest in Spider-Man, Wolverine, Thunderbolts, She-Hulk, or Fantastic Four though. At the moment, I'm may get Civil War, Civil War: Frontlines and the Daily Bugle One-Shot. :)

It makes alot more sense than you'd think so check it out before diving into CW if you're interested.

Actually, we can already anticipate the government's stance of these superheroes from many of these past 2 years stories. I mean.........alot of the damage on US grounds and lose of lives were more personal vendetta against the heroes with the civilians caught in the middle. Avengers Disassembled and Secret War brought major mayhem to US while House Of M basically change the world (for a brief period). If i am the US leaders, i actually will want the Heroes to register for them to be 'more responsible' ...so to speak.

Civil War Prelude (Paperback)
by Brian Michael Bendis, J. Michael Straczynski, Alex Maleev, Ron Garney
Ripped from the pages of New Avengers, the Eisner Award-winning team of Brian Bendis and Alex Maleev present an explosive hidden story of Marvel's secret past, the secret history of Marvel's most secret team - how they came together and how they are ripped apart. Plus: Spidey's got a new lease on life, new powers and a new costume, courtesy of his new best friend Tony Stark. So what could possibly go wrong? With clouds quickly building on the horizon, the bonds that Spider-Man now forges may very well determine his capacity to withstand a coming storm. The Marvel Universe is about to split down the middle, and the line is drawn here! You will be asked: whose side are you on? Collects New Avengers: Illuminati & Amazing Spider-Man #529-531.

I'm looking at around 36 issues by the time CW is done.
Already on my pull list is Civil War,New Avengers, and Ms Marvel.
I decided I'm going to follow the Spidey and F4 tie-ins since they all seem like major players in this badboy.
The only new book I'm getting is Punisher War Journal.

It's not a direct tie-in however, which is why it's not on the official list.
Technically any issue where Spidey has the Iron Spidey suit could be considered a tie-in, but I think that's just a bit excessive myself. Not that 81 books isn't. ;) :D

It isn't really one long, continuing story. Just a bunch of varying events taking place at close to the same time.
Obviously, don't read the september issue of Amazing Spider-Man before the July issue of Civil War, but the release order should be enough of a reading order.

Hey guys, I’m new to this forum, I’ve been reading marvel primarily only since Civil War has started up, (I’ve read all decimation/ disassembled/ other important tie-in's) and I’ve made a conscious decision that I’m going to collect all civil war's including the tie-in's. So far I’ve got them all except the Marvel Spotlight and Amazing Spider-man #529 which I’ve only got a second printing of since I started a bit late.
I’ve compiled a little Checklist including dates so that I know what issues are coming out and when. This can also be used as a list order as to what to read first, it’s not finished yet but I can only edit as much as marvel updates their website. For easier use I've arranged them into order by dates.
Hope this helps:

At: http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0608/15/civilwar.htm they also inform us the fact some new (!) additions to the Civil War tie-in books include:
* Black Panther #23, December.
* Civil War: War Crimes, December.
* Black Panther #24, January.
* Black Panther #25, Feburary.
* Civil War Front Line #11, February
This is to me a welcome suprise, never heard of this supprise before today. Are you looking forward to these as much as I do?
I allready asked Tom in the question thread what the PB tie-inns and what War Crimes are gonna be about, where do they tie in/on to?
Why another Frontline and why after CW#7 as I understood that would contain the finally. Will it now be in BP or frontline?
Let's speculate

There the new additions aren't discussed, so I thought, let's start a discussion on those new additions

I would assume they are doing more tie-ins as a FAVOUR to the fans actually, to offset delaying it. The more tie-ins the better as far as I'm concerned! i'm just outraged that there is no word of extra Cap or Iron Man tie-ins beyond the special issues. I mean, by the time CW #7 concludes we will already have seen TWO. FULL. ISSUES. of Cap and Iron Man titles post-Civil War.

A case could be made that they should be discussed at the updated checklist, but for the sake of argument I'll do it here anyway.
Firstly, 'War Crimes', by it's very name, has great potential. The Black Panther tie-ins are good news- the more the merrier, and I would love to read the Panther beyond what I saw in #18. Could this be a set-up for his joining the FF, I wonder... we'll see.
I CAN'T WAIT for the Captain America/Iron Man tie-in. The fact that it is under 'Casualties of War' rather than Civil War makes me think that it will examine their friendship etc and how it shattered- thus making their friendship the 'casualty'. Moon Knight and Blade... well, I'm just glad that it seems Marvel are fulfilling on their promise that this will touch almost every corner of the Marvel Earth. An extra Frontline? Wierd, but I certainly won't complain. And finally, the Winter Soldier tie-in might be great but I need to gorge myself on the entirety of Brubaker's Cap so far, first ;)
So yeah. I'm buying ALL of them.

My God!! I am so disapointed in these delays, because this story run is keeping me on the edge on my seat, and now this!!?
I hope Mark Millar gets well and has good recovery time. But if he is unable to continue, how about giving the primary CW series to Warren Ellis or Chuck Austin to complete. Stretching CW out is going to make me go bananas.
I have been waiting with baited breathe (my god, where do all these cliche's come from), every week. Having to stretch my CW fix another month.....? I don't know. I am going to have to find some self control from somewhere.
Oh the inhumanity of it!

I was so happy getting into the Civil War series, but then as i started buying more and more of the tie-in's i realized we were looking at this decades Onslaught saga. Ten years ago that mistake was thrown on us and we had to swallow a lot of disappointment. Ten Years later we are sitting here with delays up the butt, and when there arent delays - nothing is happening in these books at all. WOW THOR CAME BACK. big whoop.
Honestly, other then that and Spider-man unmasking, what else do they have that they can wow us with? A dead? You mean like Gwen Stacy, Uncle Ben and even Bucky. Damn i didnt know about bucky until i read up on him but thats just...this is insane. No one is dead anymore except Jean because you know, she is a tool much like MJ.
Now i did some homework and theONslaught saga was just about 52 issues long, and we have Civil War here hitting the 100 mark pretty soon. What the hell are Joe Q and his cohorts trying to prove?
Seriously though, even with the revelations revealed above, i cant say i am impressed with the core series. Both major revelations were nothing to me considering the morning of the unmasking the NEW YORK FREAKING POST had the spoiler on page two and completely ruined the surprise for me and honestly i dont like thor too much and dont know how he "died" and dont care. So cmon, adding issues to a story that is more "Civil" (more like uncivil) and less "War" is pretty much money hunger.
I wish i could be editor at marvel - sleep all day, hand in crap late, blame the printing company because of black out, then claim ppl are sick, then add books to counter the delays and loss of money. Jeez...i should go to college

This is DEFINITELY not Onslaught. Firstly, the story is far better. Secondly, already more lasting changes have happened than in all of Onslaugh.t
But most importantly:
Onslaught wasn't bad because there were lots of issues
It was bad because if you wanted to know the story and you were an Avengers fan, you had to pick up X-men comics, FF comics, etc, etc. The plot was hideously convuluted and twisted, and you never knew what book to read after what, when it came out, and what the Hell was going on anyway. With CW, all you need are the 7 core issues. If you missed an issue of, say, X-Men in Onslaught... you were pretty screwed.
If anything, Infinite Crisis is this decade's Onslaught. Story which is 'meh' at best, appeals only to people who know EXTREMELY comprehensive DC history and even then not that great, promises to change the universe but doesn't really do it well at all, very bad characterization, lack of artist continuity and EXTREMELY disappointing finale. I think Silver Bullet Comics reveiwed IC 7 and summarised all my thoughts.
"Let's invade Metropolis!"
"Superman's city?"
"Yes. It is a flawless scheme. Questions?"
"Um... isn't it... y'know, Superman's city?"
"Yes, your point?"
"Won't he, like... destroy us?"
"No, he will be occupied. ANything else?"
"No, but I mean... if he came back... it's Superman"
"Yes, your point?"
"He can fly at the speed of sound"
"Yes, your point?"
"He can destroy us alll..."
"Yes, your point?"
"And there's no chance of a heroic return at the last minute to save the day?"
Except Onslaught was better because at least in it there was a twist (Avengers dying) to how they beat Onslaught. In IC... they just beat the Society. Oh, and as that review said "The villains decide to gang up an dtake over Metropolis because then they can... uh.... y'know...."
CW is NOT this decade's Onslaught. IC certainly is.

Civil War isnt a pretty read either. I bought issue 1 and 2 and i was like "alright, this is ok. Seems too fast paced and a lot is happening in the back ground. Ill give it a shot." Then i went and read issue three and i started hearing stuff of doom trying to pick up a hammer, and see bishop talking to iron man and i hear wolverine is kicking Nitro's ass and im like...why the hell am i reading the book with the most words and no action. Seriously though, even issue 3's action was too face paced. Im not saying i dont understand the story, im saying its too much to read an issue with so much fast paced talking and everything that is going to be important is happening in the othe rbooks.

Speaking of delays and checklists, the homepage here on cbr seems to imply that marvel is putting out another checklist in stores. is that what it means or am i reading it wrong.
i was originally using the opening shot booklet but i blew that to hell when i started seeing a million titles show up

I think that the biggest thing that confuses me is the reading order. I know there is a thread for that but I still get thrown off even when I am looking at that and reading the comics at the same time!

OK. I realize this will be terribly annoying so I apologize in advance. I have just gotten into Civil War and have only read the first in The Road To Civil War Spider-Man titles and had to order the rest. I am weird in the way that I am a completist. I want to read every book in the storyline. I am looking for a checklist. The only full checklist I've seen is not really in any order. I realize that reading order seems to be some kind of mystery. I would also love if an official reading order checklist would have been released. What I am looking for is if there is at least a complete checklist up to the current books that, if nothing else, at least puts them all in order by their release date and continues to be updated each week. I have seen things close to this but none that seem to start from the beginning and were kept up to date and the fact that titles seem to added along each week really just confuses me further. Actually on Spawn.com someone had been doing this but they seemed to have quit. Can anyone help me out and post a complete up-to-date from the beginning checklist like this one? I would so very appreciate it! Thank you!

To give proper credit it came from http://board.spawn.com/forums/member.php?u=2340 (That was an attempt at an anchor tag but it didn't work so there's the link instead). I don't claim it to be correct and I don't think he does either. The reason I go with it is because it's the only checklist that comes in what I would call user friendly order. The Marvel checklist I saw wasn't helpful at all. It was just which issues of each book the story occured in. They may have relased a better one that I didn't ever see but I find listing the release date of each book even if it isn't the exact reading order is just better than one big list. The board with this information starts at http://board.spawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=314489.

Were the previous month's collections changed too from the list? Is there more books I need to pick up for the past months that weren't on the official list?

Well, I posted up the most updated version. And I'll try to keep it somewhat updated.

You have a few comics in august AND in september. Which month should they be in?

Already fixed. Check again. Those were the delayed books that got bumped. :D
They need to add 2 more Civil War tie-in books, then we'll have 100 even. :p

Any reason why there are 2 spidermans and 2 FFs in January? Also, usually front line is listed right after civil war. Is there a reason for this difference? The reason I ask this is because I'm collecting the comics now (expensive but true), and plan on reading them in order to see the whole story.

They're likely double-shipping them because of the delays that caused the books to be pushed back earlier in the Civil War storyline. Double-ship months are quite common for some books.

Anybody know what the heck this is supposed to be?

I haven't read a synopsis anywhere, but judging from the title I'd say it's probably going to show all the things Civil War changed. Characters who died, friendships ruined, etc.

The first post is now updated with the currently correct checklist. 98 books. Sheesh.

NEW AVENGERS #24 is said to come out late October on the marvel website. How does it factor into the september group? That's a good question actually. Should we keep these groups regardless of what month the actual comic comes out in? If so, maybe the name of the month shouldn't be the right label for each group, but maybe something else.

Anyone know where 'Black Panther - 022' fits in ??
It's not in the checklist.
Is there an updated one somewhere?
Thanks.......

I have made the Master Civil War Checklist. I will post it here, but it evolves with every variant/2nd print/release date change, which makes what I post here destined to be dated very soon.
This is the 11th board I have come to and encourage all to be involved in updates and suggestions. Since it has been posted I have made many changes. My plan was to have and preserve the most accurate and up to date list on the net and I think this is it. Thanks, and I hope you all will come by and check it out.
PS- Please do not repost the list with your books marked in the "Main Thread" at the link thread. It bogs down updates and suggestions. You are welcome to do that here of course. Thank you!

The following is the list as of 12/12/06. It will be updated as new info comes in at the link above, Thank you!
I took some time and made the following. It is a complete list of all issues in civil war released by month, with a few exceptions:
A. All 2nd printings and variants are grouped with original prints.
B. It is lacking unannounced 2nd prints/ variants/ TPB/ HC.
C. Release dates that are later than the date this was posted are subject to change.
D. Books are only in order based on release month. They are NOT in order within given month based on actually release date.
