View Full Version : GLC: Recharge #5: Spoilers
The Wayner

The Spider Guild, who seemed to be posing a major threat when they attacked Oa, are beaten rather soundly by the GLC. The GL's surround Kilowog and the Central Power Battery and live up to the title's namesake as they recharge their rings and bellow the GL oath in a nifty sequence.
And then, that's that.
Guy is assigned the #1 slot in the GL Honor Guard, yet has his Earth leave revoked for one year due to his insubordinations.
And there's one sequence, between the Guardians, where they discuss Kyle. They mention a "time space rift in the Polaris system which requires urgent investigation." It's then mentioned that this will be "Lantern Rayner's destiny." Hmm. Will this tie-in to him becoming Ion?
There's also playing time for Hal and John.
Overall, I enjoyed this series. Would have liked for the Guild to be a better threat than they turned out to be, but meh. It was good while it lasted. Definitely looking forward to the ongoing in May.
Thoughts?

Not a bad finish to the series, but I'm really looking forward to the ongoing now. The "everybody charges at the central battery" has been done before, but it still gave me chills this time.

The part with Kyle and the Polaris system are the events that happen in the Rann/Thanagar War special from last month, and it does lead directly into him becoming Ion.
What I really liked about this issues was the ending with the Guardians. When someone like Ganthet says "Perhaps it is time to make the universe afraid of us" you just know that is going to play out big down the road.

Great issue, love the fact Guy is the first member of the new Honor Guard,a nd was extremely glad to see the new Lanterns, Vath, Isamot and Soranik, earn their stripes and awesome to see vets like Brik, Torquemada, Salaak, Kilowog and Stel kicking booty

I thought the two page spread that gives this series its name was thrilling.
Nice work by Gardner in this issue, and I can rarely stand him.
However, losing the sun seems devastating for Oa. I assume the planet would just go off into space now with nothing to hold it in orbit, quickly becoming cold, dark and lifeless with no solar radiation. They'll have to address this in the future.
And did they really exterminate the entire Spider Guild? I know they were on the desperate defensive, but extinction is about as harsh a reprisal as there is.
Overall, a really nice mini-series that I'd recommend to others.

In my books, Guy Gardner has officially become the most fun Green Lantern out there right now. There's just something hilarious about a smartass with a bad haircut running around space barking orders at talking chimpmunks, robots and six-armed lizardmen while fighting flesh-eating Space Spiders.
Bring on the monthly!
I want more Mogo!
More Kilowog!
More Sallakk!
More Guy!
And more damned talking chimpmunks!

The universe should already fear them. Has anybody been responsible for creating more cosmic threats, all in the name of justice?
I thought it was a killer end and a good set up for the GLC ongoing.

::sniffsniff:: damn this book is good. If the ongoing can keep this up then its easily one of the best books on the stands.
Great job to everyone involved.

See for me, it was really the exact oppopsite. I liked the issue, and the series, a great deal. But when the scene opens with all the lanterns recharging their rings and saying the oath, I just didn't feel it. It was kind of like 'yeah, alright, what happens next?'. But still, awesome book.

I loved this entire miniseries, and can't wait for the ongoing. The recharge scene was gold!

I personally liked this issue the best of the whole series. I think because of this I will be getting the new series coming out in June. I still hate the art, but I heard Gibbons was taking over art on the regular series. Is that true? On DCcomics.com it says that its the same guy that did the mini, but I don't know how long that will last.

Dave Gibbons will be writing and drawing the first three or four issues of the GLC monthly in order to give Patrick Gleeson time to draw a few issues before they're released. This way, the book will be able to maintain a monthly schedule (hopefully). So, if Gleeson's art isn't to your liking, you'll have at least three issuus of Gibbons' art before he returns.

Aw shucks, Jordan. It wouldn't have counted for nothing without the rest of the team. Although, let's face it. Like I told ya before... I alway was the best. -Guy Gardner
