Did anyone else pick this up? I only played it for a little bit last night, but it is pretty cool. Being able to shoot the crap out of anything and everything while dust and splinters and debris is flying everywhere is really a blast. The second level of the game is just enormous.
I've heard it's great from two seperate people, but something bugs me.
The commercial barely shows the game, says nothing about it. the back of the game box barely shows the game, says nothing about it.
I went as far as looking at the instruction manual, which barely shows the game and says nothing about it. From what i've seen on the box, the commercial, and the trailor at work, i know it's a first person shooter, and that's it.

It's a first person shooter where pretty much everything in the game is destructible. If there are enemies hiding behind a car or barricade and you can't shoot them, blow up the car or barricade. Every shot you fire has some kind of effect. And the game is not light on ammo. The idea is to unload on everyone and everything in sight.
Since I am not very far into it, the plot revolves around your character being an operative for secret missions against terrorist targets who is under arrest due to the results of his last mission. Each mission is played as flashbacks to the events as your character describes them.
There is no multiplayer or online mode, but that's not the focus of this game. From what I have played so far, it's just a lot of fun.

Thats all it is is a shooter, you got it hehe.
Its just run and gun action, been billed as the guns being the stars of the game. PSM talked good about it and they are the only reviewers I trust on games anymore so Im sure its atleast decent.
Filefront.com had some trailers with ingame footage clips.

Basically, it's the first Red Faction with no Multiplayer, less story, and much better graphics and sound.

I hereby publish the following decree!
Gameplay: 6 (very generic)
AI: 3 (I thought we moved beyond "duck, shoot, repeat".)
Graphics: 8 (How did they manage to do this on a PS2? It looks great)
Sound: 9 (Awesome!)
Longevity: 4 (There's no need to play this through again. It's also very short)
Story: 4 (I kill terrorists! I will inform you of this with through some "Lost" flashbacks)
Reviewer bias: 8 (GUNS! KA KA KA KA!)
Blair somewhat approves. It has guns and explosions and stuff. I find that this appeases my bloodlust somewhat. However there are better FPS games on the market, and this one differs very little from the standard baseline template.
For a more upmarket FPS experience I recommend Half Life 2 on the PC or XBox. If you want more of Black's visceral charm try FEAR (similarly excellent sound and particle effects, but the storyline is far superior, plus it's pant wettingly scary!)
Black is a game that all right thinking Britons should look down upon as a guilty pleasure, but it is a pleasure nevertheless!
