According to some very vocal Internet posters, Marvel and DC hate Giffen with a passion and take every opportunity to spit on the work he has done for both companies over the years.

Keith Giffen is one of the big creative kahunas behind "Annihilation" at Marvel.

He is also the man responsible for plotting and breakdowns for every issue of "52" at DC.

If that doesn't show the faith both companies have in the man's talent, I don't know what does.

GIFFEN RULES!!!

Who ever said that Marvel hated him? Granted, I tend to think of Giffen as more of a DC writer, and I've heard people bitch because some of the characters he used in his JLA got killed, but what had Marvel done to prove that it hates Giffen? I mean, other than sticking Howling Commandos into the back of every book, when it was a shoddy product and would make everyone hate Giffen?

Exactly. Neither company hates him (aside from the self-depreciating humor included in the credit boxes).

But, then again... maybe it is an evil plot by Marvel and DC to overload him with so much work that it kills him.

It's interesting how he's playing with both lines with a huge event like Annihilation and an even bigger one with *52. Makes me happy that he hasn't signed an exclusive with either company although I would expect DC to snap him up if he were to go that route as much as I'd like to have him be exclusive to Marvel.

Most likely he'll stay "freelance" until he wants to do the whole exclusive thing and I'm pretty happy for him to be able to put out such good stuff. Can't wait for both events.

Well I am a big Thanos mark...and Giffen is one of only three guys I would trust to write the character, (Starlin and Marz are the others).

The man is gifted, no doubt. Admittedly, I wasn't too crazy about him when he took over the short lived Thanos series back in '04, but the guy, (and his style), grows on you. His work on Drax was pretty good.

I'm glad he's writing 'Annihilation'...and absolutely cannot wait for it to start! It's going to be a long-ass two weeks. :D

I've been a big Giffen fan for a long time. He's one of those creators that produces consistently good work.

At the moment, he seems to be everywhere, with 52 and Blue Beetle at DC, Annihilation at Marvel, and Hero Squared and Jeremiah Harm at Boom!

Same here. I was an exclusive Marvel comics guy untill I bought a copy of Giffen's Justice League, and I fell in love with the JL characters(especially Guy Gardner and later Lobo).

I don't think anyone was making the claim that Marvel hated Giffen. He was gearing up to work on The Defenders when a lot of this Countdown to Infinite Crisis stuff was happening.

I know a number of people said DC had a problem with him when Countdown came out (and I suppose ID Crisis because of what happened to Sue Dibny). But he is working on 52 so yeah... It's quite clear that some of the stuff that came out in Wizard and other places were all publicity and jokes and such.
