ok now that Joe Kelley has pulled Space Ghost out of the sewer of that crappy Adult Swim show with a kick-ass adult flavored comic, which characters should he tackle next from the Hanna Barbera cannon(Herculoids and Johnny Quest are already in the works)? I would personally like to see Birdman sans all that lawyer crap. His origin was never featured, but it involved the Egyptian sun god Ra. I also wanna see the Galaxy Trio and maybe Thundarr the Barbarian!

I don't have a lot of interest in Space Ghost without a talk show, and I don't think I'd like to see a serious Bird-Man either.
Jonny Quest is really getting a new comic? Is William Mesner-Loebs involved? Not only would it be great to give the guy the work, some of his JQ comics were better than the tv show (and I loved the tv show).

i think Kelley is the writer on JQ.

I love Spaceghost Coast to Coast, but I'd be very interested to see the return of the Galaxy Trio. I wonder if DC would go for it, as it always seemed like a play on the Legion. The same might be true for Birdman, whose Egyptian connection is rather similar to Hawkman!

The Space Ghost comic was great. I'm sure most people who read it would agree. I was impressed how they gave such a jokey charcter a serious background. I think Johnny Quest would make a good series, so I'm looking forward to seeing that. What else is there... Hmm.... How about a comic for other cartoons. Dungeons and Dragons would be good.

I would hope he'd follow up with another Space Ghost. His first mini was great. It was cool to see SG as powerful avenging devil. Space Ghost had a whole host of villains he could tackle next.

Captain Caveman and the Teen-Angels. That would be cool as grim and gritty.

Well, the last page of Space Ghost #6 said that due to demand, they would be doing a sequel mini. I can't remember the writer who was attached (wasn't Kelly though), and the status of that project may have changed after the others were announced.

Space Ghost started as a serious super hero then as the children grew up and realized how lame Hanna Barbara's cartoon's were they stopped watching it. I don't remember Space Ghost very much, but Birdman was cool. He got his stregnth from the sun like Supes.

The Space Ghost mini was really well done.
Whatever happened to the project after that? I thought it sold well enough to warrant another go at least another mini-series.

Could someone send me a link to info about these new comics? I'm especially interested in the Johnny Quest one, and I'd also love to see Herculoids, and Galaxy Trio.
Yes, there was some lameness to these shows back in the 60s, but they were still pretty cool and could be cool again with some modern updating.

I thought Space Ghost Coast to Coast was funny but I remember the original cartoons from the 1960s. I loved it when DC did a version of Space Ghost that I could take seriously and enjoy now as an adult.
I'd love to see them do a version of the Mighty Mightor that I'd be interested in now. It would be tougher. With Space Ghost, you could at least keep the basic premise. With Mightor, you'd have to have it in an alternate world or some other planet where there are dinosaurs and people.

Serious versions of Birdman and Blue Falcon? What on earth would the point of that be?
I thought the "adult-ifying" of Space Ghost (it's Space Ghost for crying out loud!) was really dumb and the same goes for other goofy Hannah Barbera characters.
Nothing'd ever be as good as Harvey Birdman: Attourney at Law anyway.

I don't want to see a serious Space Ghost. Serious Space Ghost is lame. I like my Space Ghost being a late night talk show host who thinks every celebrity is a superhero, stupid and quick to anger. I wouldn't want to see a serious Birdman niether. Keep them all goofy and fun.

Wow - couldn't agree with you more (which in itself is a bit of a shock, hee hee;) ) this was THE show that made me wind my alarm clock for Saturday mornings as a kid. Absolutely loved it.

I'd kind of like to see a serious Super-Friends. Not the JLA we know; but a series in which they're located in the Hall of Justics, and the 5 mightiest heroes are working for Colonel Wilcox. I find that dynamic interesting. Who is he, and how did he come to be in command of them?
A serious Blue Falcon.

I'd be keen to see a non-comedic version of the various HB Superheroes, but I thought that doing Space Ghost as a 'grim, gritty, violent avenger' was extremely wrong-headed thinking.
Hrm.
Besides, there already IS a serious version of Space Ghost.

I'd also like to see Thundar the Barbarian as a Savage Sword of Conan style comic book. That would be awesome!

I think Dyno-Mutt could actually be interesting - if done right. Perhaps an intended weapon, designed to be used against the Blue Falcon, which like the Vision or Red Tornado, turns sides. Perhaps his malfunctions/imperfections are part of what makes him good. Anyway, I'm for a "BF" movie!

No, I'm not joking. Anything can be done interestingly by a talented writer, with the right approach. I'd get rid of the pratt-falls, and spit-takes. Give the character an actual heart, and get to the flaws in the AI that make what was intended to be a killer-bot, a loyal, tried-and-true, side-kick.

Galaxy Trio. They were the(S-word), man!
Screw that talk show. Is it de rigeur(sp) for every hero to go thru a goofy ass period before they can be taken seriously? I liked Space Ghost as a real hero and not some dorky talk show host(where the hell did that come from??).
Put me down for Birdman, Blue Falcon too! I don't think they would have to worry about trademark infringements since Warner Bros. owns both DC and the Hanna Barbera library of characters.

But that is probably your first image of Space Ghost, the talk show. If so, that makes sense for you to feel that way. For me, my first image of SG is the 1966 or 1967 cartoon which my eight year old mind took seriously. So, of course, I want a SG that my somewhat adult mind can take seriously, a SG I can be interested in now and not just for nostalgia.

I agree with you when you say you'd like to Space Ghost as a real hero. Like Power Boy, I remember when Space Ghost was actually a cool cartoon as a kid (in the 70's).
But Space Ghost Coast-to Coast was funny stuff. Come on Brak was "Rolling on the Floor Funny"! The later episodes even have Evan Dorkin as a writer.

I liked SG: CTC but I also loved the 1960s Batman show. Its a matter of judging it on its own merits. But, just as Batman started out serious (well, serious to a child) and then became a comedy character and then got back to being a serious character and moreso than ever, so I like the idea that SG started as a character a child could take seriously, then became a comedy character and then became a deadly serious character again in DC.

Thundarr the Barbarian, no question.
He was always so cool, like a cross between He-Man and Luke Skywalker(He had a lightsaber and hung with a borderline wookie), and if that wasn't good enough, he's from a post apocolyptic future, which as futures go is always better than "we all dress the same in silver with flying cars" futures.
Speaking of it taking place in the future, I was actually watching an old thundarr clip on the internet and during the opening sequence the announcer talks about how civilization as we know it falls in like 1994 or something like that, so he says something like, "In the year 1994, the world as we know it is gone" Funny stuff.
If not Thundarr, then a seriously played Jonny Quest espionage book under the Vertigo imprint. Yeah.
