Just curious what everyone's looking for. My collection has been feeling pretty complete lately, with only a few runs left to finish up. I've bought all the big books I wanted this year.

I'm looking for:

Silver Surfer (1960s) #4
Batman #329
Green Lantern (1960s) #2, 3
A whole mess of Bronze age Batman and Detective Comics issues
Any All-American Comics issue I can find with a G.A. Green Lantern cover

Incredible Hulk #6

That one's been up on ebay a lot lately. These are two of the lowest prices I've ever seen for it:

Thanks for posting those links! Have to admit that those aren't too bad of prices, especially if you're only hunting a reading copy to complete a collection.

The last time I got close to buying IH #6 was when I ran across it in a now defunct comic shop. It was hanging on a wall by the store's front door/windows, where the light had faded the front cover (well, what was left of it, since there was a large chunk gone from a corner) very badly.

I asked the seller why he was displaying the book where it was receiving so much damage. I was told it was because nobody would want the old thing to begin with... uh, well, I'd like to have it! But sorry, no, not for $350.

He wanted $350 for it? Man, that beats the Hulk #181 a seller tried to give me for $300. It looked great aside from the gaping hole right smack in the middle of the cover and running all the way through to the back.

I am actively searching for the following:

All-American Western #111, 118 and 121
Captain Marvel Jr. #37
Whiz Comics #91

scratchie

X-Men 111 to give me a complete set of #94-128.

I also have a few New Gods and Mister Miracle issues to pick up, and a lot of Jimmy Olsen.

No real sense of urgency with any of those. I'm grabbing them when I can find nice (VF) copies for a decent price. I'm actually most eager for the supposed release of Essential Defenders Volume 2 in May.

Well, hell, now I am too.

Right now I am picking off various copies of Master of Kung Fu, trying to complete that run. Playing my usual eBay game, lots of three or more, no more than $2 a book, to keep it interesting. About halfway through it at this point.

Also still looking for Marvel black-and-white books; I am pretty much done with Savage Sword except for a few towards the end of the run, and I still need a couple of Marvel Preview and Deadly Hands of Kung Fu. I'd really like to get Marvel's Planet of the Apes books too, but jeez Louise those things are EXPEN$IVE. Any time someone offers one for less than two bucks it gets swarmed and bid up to ten or fifteen in no time. I think I'll have to get those at a show sometime.

And after reminiscing about Gold Key's Dark Shadows comics the other day I went snooping around for those but it was the same story as Apes. Any time a book can also be classified as "TV memorabilia" there's a whole other group of collectors after it too, and they all seem to be made of money judging from the way the stuff gets priced. Sigh.

I'm up for ESSENTIAL DEFENDERS Vol. 2, as well.

However, this is the first I'd hear it might be poppin' up in May. Any idea which issues this one will cover?

Dark Shadows collectors, in particular, are insanely compulsive. There is virtually no interest in comic book back issues around here, yet a hored of Dark Shadows fans descends upon the local stores each week just to make sure nothing Dark Shadows related came in. I'm a part-time fan of the show and, just the other week, actually made it to a local comic store before they did. Dark Shadows #4 was there. I thought about buying it, but the owner was asking the full book value for it, knowing that the fanatics would pay it.

Kurt...I may have those issues of DCCP, Black Lightning and some of The Flash. I'll try to check when I get home. If I do (and you're not concerned about grade) they're yours. I probably have some of the WW's, but you ain't gettin my Huntress.

I really don't buy back issues any more, but there are a few things that I'm actively looking for. In addition to any new Essentials and Showcase volumes...

Steve Canyon:1949, 1950 and 1951 by Checker Publishing. The last two haven't been published yet, but are finally up on Amazon.

The second issue of Blackthorne Press' "Tales of the Green Beret." I picked up #'s 1 & 3 on E-bay recently. Can't wait until they get here.

Cerebus: Church & State I. I just started reading High Society and have Church & State II.

Any of Dragon Lady Press' strip reprints that I don't already have. They did some great stuff back in the 80s.

I would hope they would cover to the end of Gerber's run, but that might be too many issues for one volume (16 - 41 plus four original Giant-Size stories; I think GS #1 was a reprint).

My guess is, they'd probably do 16 through 30 and the GS stories. 31-40 and Annual #1 are all part of one storyline and couldn't (shouldn't?) be broken up.

Let me know what you have/need. I'm pretty sure I have some in my duplicates pile.

As for me, I'm mainly trying to finish runs of a few strip reprint/related mags:

Comics Revue 92, 96, 100, 108, 116, 117, 122, 123, 128
Comics Revue Presents Modesy Blaise 7, 8
Hogan's Alley 1, 2 (these are often eBayable, but at *way* too high a price)

I've been meaning to ask you; how much are you paying for issues of Comics Revue? I've been wanting to start buying them, but they seem to command a premium price.

Or maybe I'm just cheap.

Uncanny X-Men #97 and 266 to finish my collection of #94-current.

Excalibur #124-125 to finish that collection.

Deadpool #53-60, and 67 (surprisingly hard to find most of them).

New Warriors #60, 75 (last issues of 90's titles are a $#%&^ to find.)

Kamandi 58 (The Karate Kid issue)

Bunch of Legion of Super Heroes stuff on the top of my list from late series 3 and early series 4. Superboy's Legion 1-2 and the Legion volue 4 Secret Files issues escape me as well.

And of course tons of various Avengers and X-related issues.

I'd like to try to collect Kirby's Kamandi, since I've only ever read isolated issues of it. Also wouldn't mind getting some of the old b&w mags like Savage Tales and a few Savage Sword of Conan issues I'm missing, not to mention Creepy and Eerie. The trouble with those, though, is figuring put which issues I want. There are too many to collect them all and besides, I'd rather concentrate on favourite artists and writers. Maybe we should have a thread on the best of Warren.

Between $1 and as-much-as-some-psycho-will-pay-to-finish-his-collection. So it, y'know, varies. :)

I don't particularly think any of them are "worth" all that much - maybe between cover price and $10. But, as I said, when it gets down to a certain couple issues that someone needs, it quickly turns into the sky's the limit. It really has to do with which issues Rick Norwood happened to sell out of instantly vs. those that he still has hanging around. That sets the baseline. Then there is the luck part of walking into any shop that has been around a while and flipping through the five back issues they have. Sometimes it's one you need; often not.

Have you ever seen the Mexican edition of #1? There's a huge Batman logo at the top (bigger than the word "Kamandi") for no apparant reason other than to sell more copies. I bought the only one I ever saw because I think it's hysterical.

Incidentally, now I need Green Lantern (1960s) #2 and 3 since I have #1 and just acquired 4 and 5 cheap.

scratch dc special 14 & 15 from my list. got 'em both off ebay last night for $2.32, combined (considerably less than i've repeatedly seen either go for ... ebay works in mysterious ways, its wonders to perform).
