Ok, so the rumored new GTA turns out to be a port of PSP's Liberty City Stories (*sigh*), but there's gonna be a new one sooner or later. What would you do if YOU were a designer on the game? hERE'S MY TWO CENTS:

1)there wouldn't be one main character: there would be at least five, one a female. You would be able to switch between them on the fly.

2)there would be greater freedom as to where to go. You would be able to enter ANY house or building.

3)recruiting gang members was a nice touch in San Andreas, but they had the combined intelligence of a loaf of bread. I'd add an multi-player optiion so other players could help out during tough spots in the game.

4)no manditory missions, ala the "Learn to Fly" San Andreas mission. ThingS like that should be optional.

5)the game should come in two versions: one that allows for sexually explicit content ala the infamous hot coffee mod, and one without.

thats all i got for now. anyone else wanna play?

Asbo-bloody-lutly.

San Andreas was just too big. I'd rather have a smaller playing area (along the lines of Vice City) but make it fully realised.

Use space better, San Andreas was huge but a lot of that space wasn't used.

I'd like to see the series take place in another country for a change.

I'd love to see any of these:

GTA: Moscow
GTA: Mexico City
GTA: Tokyo

Good idea, although I might have less (still one woman, at least) and make it more of a Resi style multi-pronged story.

More houses, but not all. It's not practical, and I liked the wide open space of San An.

4)no manditory missions, ala the "Learn to Fly" San Andreas mission. ThingS like that should be optional.
But you would've still needed a tutorial for flight, so what's the difference?

Is there demand? If so, fine, I've got no problems.

The main character has to be a well-educated Southern gentleman who -through comedic circumstances- gets caught up in the world of gritty, urban crime. The verbal exchanges between him and his unlikely gheto allies would be hilarious!

It has to be London, taking cue from British crime movies.

I wont be interested in any more GTA games, unless they visualy improve. I mean, they still look like late-life PSX games, and were already on the helm of 3rd Generation Playstation hardware.

Yes, but next to no load times, huge soundtracks, huge landscapes, massive numbers of vehicles/characters/weapons, and big storyline = great game with little room for shiny graphics, so good ones will do.

Loose the damn radio control missions, or at least make them a little more forgiving.

I've had enough of the "Fly this little remote control plane, that's a bitch to control, and fly all over the damn city attempting to destroy five targets, that shoot back with blistering accuracy, and do it with a limited amount of fuel. And land it."

Guys, the whole game is big enough to take up a few months of our time, there is no need to put in missions that we have to try fifty odd times before we complete it. We're just as likley to give up, and that means half the people who bought the damn thing won't get to see a big chunk of your hard work because the game has been put back on the shelf due to it being so damn frustrating.

The next Generation GTA game on the PS3 will look like a current generation game then! :D

Seriously though, the graphics aren't that bad. They were functional and they did the job, plus I had the PC version, the graphics were far better in the PC version.

Hell I remember games when they looked like the advets suggested in Vice City. "Destroy the green blob with your lightning fast red blob", so the need for wonderful graphics is something I don't really bother about.

If I can see what's going on and it doesn't make my head hurt, I'm happy.

What I meant about the learn to fly thing is that it forces the game to come to a complete halt until you finish the flying tutorials. I f you don't complete them, the game won't move on(and I haven't...I gave up on the flying crap months ago). That type of crap doen't need to be in the game.\

I'd also like to see an update of the PS One's GTA: London 1969. It was like Ausin Powers mixed with the Godfather! The music was bloody brilliant, the gameplay and graphics, not so much.

There could also be a GTA set in the future with laser guns, jetpacks, flying cars, and android cops, but that might be stretching the premise a bit thin.

I agree with all of jadegiant77's suggestions except the first and last. I don't really care about controlling different characters and I don't care about sexually explicit content in a video game.

The biggest thing for me would be getting rid of required missions. I hate the flying missions and the remote control missions. I also wouldn't mind a Fable like approach where you can decide to be good or bad, but of course I'd want it much more refined and in depth. It'd be kind of cool, if they continue on the "anti-hero" theme to have the gangs you assemble and stuff like "street cred" be more developed. Instead of just telling me that I've got cred and let me have more lemmings follow me around I want to be able to assign them certain "jobs" to carry out over the course of the game. I'd also like to be able to corrupt the youth. Another cool feature would be to have your character get arrested and do some missions where he's locked up and has to set up a power structure in prisons. That's probably getting way too out there, though.

Id like a actual new GTA game.

The last original one was 3, all the others since then have been rehashes with more vehicles, "improved" graphics, bigger cities, different music. If it werent for those differences I probablly couldnt tell the difference from one or the other. Id have thought higher of rockstar if they stopped at vice city (and maybe not released state of emergency).

What else can you do with it though? Without it not being GTA anymore, I mean?

I don't know man, GTA 2 had the mission where you had to get arrested, go into jail and start the riot, and that was some hard s***.

No offense meant, but what exactly qualifies a 'true' sequel to you, then?

Different cities, different story, refinements/additions to the gameplay...

Aside from the features you just mentioned, there were no real differences between 2 and 3. Simply a new perspective, and...improved graphics, bigger cities, different music, and refined/added-to gameplay.

Seriously. It's GTA. A free-roaming, sandbox game about the life and times of criminals. Whether it's a mafioso, a 'gangsta', some random thug, or a killer vigilante clown. They steal cars, horde money, and whatever else is typical.

The best part is the "if it weren't for the differences, I wouldn't notice any difference" part.

GTA 4 Thats going to be the title for the next GTA game. Rockstar said, that vice city, and San Andreas were sequels to GTAIII. THey ran on an improved GTAIII engine and were intended to feel like a trilogy. The next GTA game will be the first to run on a new game engine, and it should be a bit different.

What Rockstar did, was use the hardware available. If you have a console that can run better than a PS2, and wouldn't infringe on sony's excllusive contract with Rockstar I'm sure they would have loved to hear from you. But as I know you don't, quit ragging on Rockstar, all they ever did was make the best video game ever. Then make it better. And they will do it again.

As for choosing to be good or bad, dude... it's Grand Theft Auto, it's about crime, go play True Crime, it claims to let you choose. Although I would like to see someone get anything done, when the cops are after you in that crappy game.

the reason why i liked GTA:SA so much is because it captures the mood of of the early 90's so well that it made me feel like i was back in my final year of middle school, the summer of 92,or my freshman year of high school.

One of the latter missions has you hijack a Harrier and dogfight the Navy. You need to know how to barrel roll and stuff for that. (If you do, it's a helluva ride though:D)

That, or whenever you choose to do some dogfighting above Area 69.

Getting to pwn those stupid jets is so satisfying. :D

Meh! I always preferred Ace Combat 4/5 for all my console aviator needs, although I must say AC5 was a bit too...pacifist for my tastes. It felt like a piece of leftist propoganda. I suppose however that makes it a nice companion piece to AC4 which basically stated that WAR IS ALWAYS THE ANSWER!

Wardog! LAUNCH!

Anyway, GTA 4 is gonna' be some game huh? I bet Rockstar North has the PS3 Dev kits right now.

A good deal of my satisfaction came from the fact that those jets had blown me to bits many times before, when I'd gotten too close with helicopters, or my stunt plane. I heard the WWII fighter was actually capable of shooting one down, but I could never do it.

So when I acquired one of them, I knew revenge time had come.

That, and landing in the slums next to my house in the equivalent of a Harrier makes you realize you've come a long way from Ryder's busted up truck with the ramp on it.
