I just got a notification from Amazon.com that The Brave and Bold Art of Jim Aparo, which had been delayed, is now cancelled altogether! Does anyone have any more info on this? I hope it will be resolicited. There was a Comics Pro featuring Jim Aparo that wound up never being released a few years back and I was really looking forward to finally having a retrospective of my favorit artist's career.

Hopefully DC is replacing this with a better project, like glossy full-color reprints of Aparo's Brave & the Bold run, and maybe also his work with the Spectre.

Well Twomorrows took my wife's money for this book months ago, so I hope it eventually comes out.
She was buying it for me as a gift and they charged her Visa and then told her it wasn't ready.
Not cool.

twomorrows' website is still listing it as due out 6/21 or thereabouts.
doesn't one of their employees occasionally post here?

We are aiming to get the book out this summer, and it will be resolicited when the time comes. Sorry for the long delay, but the writer (Scott Beatty) and myself (I'm designing the book) are both having to deal with serious personal matters that are taking up a great deal of our time. I appreciate your patience with us, and I hope you will find the book to be worth the wait. If anyone has pre-ordered the book from TwoMorrows and would prefer to get their money back now, you can e-mail me at twomorrow@aol.com.

Thanks for the reply - I hope that the personal matters are not too serious and that they will be resolved soon.
I am sure that the book will be worth the wait.
My wife ordered it for my birthday last October - and my only real complaint is that it was charged to her Visa before a firm shipping date was scheduled. I don't know much about the publishing industry and I don't know if that is TwoMorrows policy for payment - but I don't personally think anyone's credit cards should be charged until the book is shipped (or at least scheduled for shipment).
Again, I am really looking forward to it.

I can't hardly wait to see this book in print. I loved Jim Aparo's art when I first discovered it in the mid-1970s and have been a fan of his work ever since. The project has been delayed a bit, but, I know the guys at Twomorrows are probably working overtime to get the book out. I even contributed a sweet Jim Aparo piece of art recently, so, yes, there's still work being done on it. Heck, I've been working on my first issue of my fanzine for the past year and a half now and I still can't seem to get the dang thing printed! Too much to do and not nearly enough time in which to do it all!

Thanks, Aaron and Lone Ranger. I'll hopefully know for sure how things are after my wife's biopsy tomorrow.
And actually, we did have a shipping date at one point — we even solicited the book, confident that the book would be done by then. Sometimes life throws you a curveball (or maybe a breaking slider) and you're left swinging, trying to simply make contact and stay in the count. (Go Bluejays, btw.)
The TwoMorrows web store is set up so that credit cards are charged before an order is approved. This way we don't have to handle the credit card numbers at all. We never see anything more than the last four digits of the number — it's safer for the customers and safer for us as well.

Fair enough - thanks for the explanation. It's greatly appreciated. I'm a bit gunshy about paying too far in advance for stuff (I'm still waiting for minor refund for my Comic Book Marketplace subscription - other the final issue, for that matter).
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife.

It has been months and I haven't heard a peep. Is this book still going to be published? Does anyone have any info?

I haven't heard anything; I was a contributor to it, but I've heard nothing since about a year ago (nor have I heard anything further from the folks that produce Comic Book Artist, who also contacted me about contributing something to an Aparo tribute). It's disappointing that his passing didn't generate much of a tribute from any of the comics-focused magazines, but especially painful that the TwoMorrows book hasn't made it to publication. I know they definitely wanted to, but for one reason or another, it's dropped off the screen, and it looks like Jim's not going to get his due. Sad.

The book will be out sometime next year — probably in the fall. We've had a few roadblocks along the way, but we'll be renewing our effort in the coming months. In fact, I'll be visiting with Mrs. Aparo and her daughter in just a couple of weeks.

Bumping this thread because another year has passed. Is this book a lost cause now? It would be a shame if so, I know it would be a big seller.

Obviously, I'd still love to see it make print, but I don't hold out much hope. I'll keep trying to fill the gaps left by its absence via my Aparo blog.
