Hi there, I'm an aspiring comic book artist, but just have no idea what pens/art supplies to use. All I currently draw with is crummy fineliners on tracing paper, tracing over pencils ive done on cartridge paper. And the occasional Berol black marker. So... what do you guys use to make such awesome stuff?

I have been reading a lot of frank miller stuff lately, and just read dark knight returns. I was wondernig, what does he use fo the inks? And what does he use to colour with?

Any help on this would be wicked, as I feel a lack of knowledge on how to go about this is really holding me back.

Thanks!

I use tech pens and watercolor brushes with Koh-i-Nor inks.
Many use crow quill pens as well.
The paper is usually Bristol board 300, 400, or 500 series (500 being the highest quality).

Some create digitally using a Wacom tablet.

Most coloring is done digitally using Photoshop or Illustrator, though many still use actual paints (watercolor, acrylic, oil) as well.

You can really use anything, though. Its your art.
Reading or listening to interviews with creators you can usually find out what they specifially use.

There is a wealth of information here: http://members.shaw.ca/creatingcomics/

And lots of specifics here:

Enjoy.

And she mostly colours with watercolour, I think. Although DKSA was coloured in Photoshop.
