A couple of weeks ago there was this thread that showed this bad ass picture of batman as a green lantern and I was wondering when this comic book would be released, anyone know?

It's the upcoming Green Lantern #9. The image was an alternative cover by Ethan van Scriever. It's unknown whether or not Batman will get an actual ring in the issue, but ya never know!

Because Johns is writing it Batman will be an irrational dink (I'm willing to bet hard cash on this).

If someone that respected Bats was writing it... Bats with a GL ring... hmm...

*Pictures Batman beating the holy-living-hell out of Hal.*

"This is for making me look irrational for not trusting a mass murderer! This is for taking me out with one punch despite the lifetime I've had fighting guys with a dozen times better unarmed combat skills than you! This is for soiling Giffen's classic "one punch" joke! This is for having a comeback story nearly identical to a dozen fanfics written by 12 year olds when you first went bad! This is for being so unbelievably dull! This is for Mungul punching Mongal's head off... technically not your fault, but they're the same species, it's not like I can punch your head off, even though I'm trying!"

...Okay, maybe that's not what a good writer would put in. But I'd still pay to see it. ^_^

that'd be worth my $3. I hate what rebirth tried to do to batman. I also hate that hal's alive, but that's not important anymore. Batman will probably stumble around in this one and always be wrong and make hal look like the greatest hero ever and batman will just be a punching bag.

Honestly, I didn't dislike Hal until Rebirth. He was a bit on the dull side, pre-Twillight, but I didn't hate him. I thought the stuff with the old Hal being brought into Kyle's time and seeing his future was superb. And he was pretty cool in JLA Year One. But the whitewash he got at Bat's expense in Rebirth (The devil made you do it? Oh, that's real original...), and the way he's acted since then... nosir, don't like him.

I didnt like hal until his teamup with green arrow and I don't like him now that he's not dead. I hate that he's back, I hate the way he came back, I hate the excuse he's getting, I hate the cracks at batman, I hate his free pass because he's hal jordan, I hate how john never gets love and now that hal's back is pretty much doomed to a life of obscurity forever. hate hal.

Is it a one-shot?

There was also the Elseworlds story: Batman: In Darkest Knight.
In this universe, Green Lantern Abin Sur chooses Bruce Wayne as his successor, instead of Hal Jordan. Eventually, Sinestro starts dressing like the Joker, Selina Kyle becomes Star Sapphire, et cetera.
Hope this helps out some.

That's a really cool cover. My comic shop owner was trying to sell me on it. $25 for a story I can have for $3? I don't care HOW cool the cover is, no way! Stupid variants...

Read the most recent GL issue. Not a bad story. Batman one punches Hal Jordan, beats the bad guy, is abrasive without being way too big an asshole, uses a green lantern ring (btw, the shot when he first puts on the ring is awesome. he's like glowing green all over and green bats simply appear everywhere and the GL logo grows batwings) and summons an image of his parents, before deciding that he isn't ready to move past their death and gives it back to Jordan, who he finally starts calling Hal again.

Some sweet lines from this issue:
Spoilers

After Batman bounces GL's head of the car window with a sharp turn:
GL - "You're funny."
Batman- "I try."

Batman - "How are you going to bring the Tattooed man in?"
GL - "I'm going to hit him really hard with a big, green boxing glove... I'm kidding."

GL- "I usually don't bleed this much on a team-up."

The sound you hear is me eating my words.

I'm going to say this once so listen now and hear me next week.

Geoff Johns does NOT hate Batman.

There, I said it.

BTW, I've read the latest GL myself and Batman gets respect.

There, I've said that too.

I actually teared up a bit when Bruce had the ring on and saw his parents. I never do stuff like that, so this was quite a jarring experience for me. AWESOME ISSUE!

I by no means teared up during the issue. But, I was glad to see Batman get even with Hal. And I hope you people are happy seeing BatJerk dying away. I really enjoyed the issue. Especially the funny scenes.

Hal is pretty boring and he is the epitome of the 'comic book' hero. Little depth or intrigue. I don't like him coming back but at least they took away his greatest ever title and gave it to Kyle Rayner who is way more interesting and actually got me into buying his books. The guardians even think he's the greatest. And now that's he's more powerful, Hal isn't in the spotlight.

Overall, a good issue. The baddie of the book seemed a little pointless. Would have been nice if there was a genuine reason Batman needed to call Hal. Still, the issue was good, and the dialog even better. As a batfan, I loved seeing the 'punch' line of the issue (see what I did there). Though I found Johns likes writing human characters as people of love to deliver punchs whenever possible. Batman got a couple of solid ones in there in this issue. I just really hoped Batman would do a little more with the ring. I was hoping for the issue to focus more on that, but it didn't. Still, was fun for a non-IC related, single issue. Nice one Johns.

Loved it, but also very, very dissapointed. With only one issue to go before OYL, I thought Bats would be the hero who gets superpowers. Shame. But the rest was so cool it hurt. The dialogue was great, the payback was a bitch, 9/10. Johns is the man.

I loved some things, hated others. Art was awesome as usual from Van Sciver.
Why in the hell would a Marine who doesn't feel pain give Batman a problem? He's probably fought a ton of guys who don't feel pain. You just give 'em a concussion. It doesn't matter whether or not you can feel it. I have a comic book were Batman takes out a room full of Special FOrces. Oh, well. That was a little nitpick. Batman still took him out. The revenge punch was great, as was the THUNK! head bouncing off the dashboard of the Batmobile. "That was funny." "I try."

Why would Batman have an initial problem getting the ring to work? Maybe it's not a matter of IF you can do it, in this instance, but HOW. Most or us are able to drive a car, you just need to know how to do it in order to operate it successfully. Once he knows how to operate the ring, Batman, whose willpower is definitely equal to Hal's, would have no problem using a ring again. :D

I think that maybe Batman wanted to reconcile things with Hal, he couldn't say it, so this is the only way he saw he could do it. Aw, cute little Bruce! :p

Alsom, I have a feeling that whoever the Tattoo Man is working for will play into a storyline at some point.. because they referenced Harvey Dent who shows up in Detectie and is in the first big Batman arc for 1 Year Later.

Oh yeah, I knew I forgot to mention something. Nice one Nick. I'm curious how that angle pans out. I imagine the next arc on Batman will sort most of the mysteries out. I'm just thinking, who would put the hit on Mr D.

Anyone else notice that now on Oa, it's mentioned that word of what Hal did when ahem...."merged" with Parallax (yes, I have a hard time writing that sentence myself) and that we might have to kiss "Saint Hal" goodbye?

Artwork was great! A typical comic book team up but the artwork and the little dialogue betwen GL and Batman was nice. I wouldn't have cared if Batman got knocked out again and acted like a dick. If he's in someone elses comic book the main character of that book has to look better, and sometimes the writer feels like that have to look better at the expense of another superhero.

How come the regular issue didn't have the Van Scrier art? I hate variant covers!

Dude you read my freakin' mind. That's why GL:Rebirth is such a cop out. It was the one chance for DC to give the character some depth and they didn't have to balls to leave Hal as Parallex and responsible for his actions.

What did he call him before? Parallex?

Maleficentogre

He called him Jordan. First names are a personal thing. He distanced himself from a personal connection with jordan by only being on a last name/super hero name basis.
