That's right, screw the environment, I'm saving cans for the International San Diego Comic Convention. And, you'll notice that I'm speaking of next year. What? There's no way in hell I can drink so much to save enough cans to go to this year (unless I drunk like Cam buzz-zing!).

Seriously, I'm saving a little out of each check and saving cans. I'm having numerous yard sales between now and then, too. I'm hoping that Sk, Monkey Boy, and Ringslinger will go, too. It'd be cool to travel to something like that with them.

Also, I'd like to see you guys there. You know, meet a few of you.

My question is who all is going to this year's ComicCon? Who's gone in the past? Would you mind sharing your stories? What should I do? What should I not do? How should I plan? Etc.

P.S.: Cam, save your cans and help me go this year.

I have plans to go in '07 as well, as a college graduation present.

This is contingent on the fact that I get SMRZNP done before then, because if I don't, Ron will more than likely kill me on sight.

Wow, that'd be so awesome, and you're definitely on the list of YABSers I'd like to meet. Hey, I missed what MWAREADFAVADAS was, so could you explain?

Sorry to hear about health issues, dude. "Get well soon." Also, save the environment with me, too. Save cans.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go, but I'm so new here that no one really knows who I am.

So fix that, CC07 is so far away that you've got plenty of time. Heck, I'll meet up with you if you give me some cans. ;)

Alright! We're rolling, now!

I sold some of my old WWE magazines, a Stone Cold Hat, and a Rock Poster. $10 down w/$20 more promised.

I've saved maybe $1 worth of cans with the help of my parents and my in-laws. (I was saving them at work, too. I had, like, 4 saved in a Wal-Mart bag and our cleaning lady trashed them. Or did she swipe them? I guess I'll know if I see her at the ComicCon, huh?)

And I've got a woman who'll buy my old stove for $30 (maybe this Saturday).

Plus, I've already got around $30 in change, too.

I plan on having yardsale after yardsale after yardsale, too.

ALways sell comics you wished you didn't buy ;)

If and when you do make it, wear comfortable shoes, and be aware that the air conditioning at the Con doesn't work worth a damn, despite claims from the organizers that they've improved it.

Wow, that was very . . . um . . . interesting. Were there any comics?

Who really goes to Comic-con for comics? :)

<raises hand>

I live in Southern Oregon. There are VERY LIMITED comic stores here, and as far as back issues go,it's pretty much GOOD luck.

EBAY is helpful, sure, but not that much.

So being able to go to a HUGE place to buy things i WANT to buy(and to be truthful, heaven WOULD be ALOT like Comic-con with me having a unlimited Credit card..and cute girls who like me! Ok..i know i'm going overboard.

But i did buy like 200 dollars worth of books last time i went. That was minor because i spent ALOT more on non-comic items.

In all seriousness, though, as of two or three years ago it seems like San Diego Comic-con caters to a lot of movie blockbuster stuff.

Not that it's a bad thing, though, as there are still tons of comic-related panels and my friends choose to go because it's a jack-of-all-trades kind of thing -- I go to the comic panels, someone else goes to the gaming section, and someone else goes to the anime viewing rooms, etc..

Azrael52, have you considered donating blood? You might be able to make some cash that way.

That's funny, here in Arkansas, you don't get money for donating blood, but today I was watching TV and saw an ad for $150 for donating plasma. Shoot, they can have all of it if they want it.

7 months back, my wife and I moved into our first real house. One of the things that I mentioned on here back then was that the guys we bought it from bulldozed a big pile of trash right inside the treeline of our back yard. Ok, so now I'm glad. I had 22 cans saved as of Monday. Monday afternoon, I went through that pile; when the day was done, I had 210 cans. Today, I went out there and got another 49 from the pile. While I'm at it, I'm also bagging up the trash that I come across. I've got 4 bags so far of trash (too bad I can't sell that, huh?)

Also, I forgot to mention that my friend says he'll buy a computer desk off of me for $15.

i wouldn't recommend it, but I also think they pay more when they take your cells (plasma) if you are sick or have any disease or something for research.

Thanks, Les, we're so loving it. The only down side is that we can't spend enough time working on it and enjoying it b/c she had her final semester of college and I've been working more hours. Its funny how when you first get a "real" house, you actually like doing inside and outside chores. :D

Well, you know when you see the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other in cartoons? I was the poor sap with a devil on each shoulder when it came to Cape. I took all of the money that I had saved so far and spent it on a fun time at Cape. Now, I'm starting over. Tomorrow I'll probably haul off my first load of cans. I hear they are 70 cents per pound, now. I still plan on going next year, so you guys help me stay diciplined.

I sold all the cans I've saved so far and got a whopping $13.00!!! Man!

Now, I'm kinda thinking that instead of SDCC, I'm going to Cape III: The Bitch is Back (or whatever it's called).

$13!! Whoo hoo!

Now that barbeque season is here, you should go around your neighborhood collecting their cans!

Hahaha! It's going to be CAPE III: Bride of CAPE.

I'm going to San Diego for the first time. While I'm there I'll work on getting everyone to CAPE 2007.

We're up for the retailer Eisner award plus the Lulu from the Friends of Lulu. I'm going to represent the Zeus!

This has been a fun thread to read, btw.

LOL!!! I love it, I was going to suggest Niece of CAPE.

I'm going to start insisting all of the YABSers start saving their pocket change for CAPE III and we have the biggest YABS dinner in history! I think we already had the biggest YABS dinner in history, but still, we gotta top CAPE 2!

Is it too late to vote? I'd so vote for Zeus. That place is so awesome.
