Ok, so I've been feeling a little early 90's comic nostalgia, and I've added to my pull list almost every book from early Image creators that they're doing now. My one hesitation is with Spawn. I know Todd's not really doing it himself anymore, but he still controls it.

How is the book right now?

If you recently quit reading it, tell me why?

Should I begin picking it up again, or will I regret it?

I had quit Spawn in issue 108, just bought issue 150- 153 and the storie is pretty engaging and the artis is good specially when he's not drawing sam and twitch. I'm giving it a shot again and i'm enjoying it maybe U should too. it looks like things are changing though some of the problems are still there... spawn is still obsesed with wanda etc

Right now, the book is actually going somewhere. It has a goal (doomsday). It's much better now than it was in the fifty issues before 150 (a big issue, buy it). There's a new writer, if you wanted to know.

I actually stopped after the issue Cog took over Hell, due to money problems.

I think you should read it again, and you won't regret it. The next issue (153) comes out this week, but to catch up, read issues 150, 151, and 152. They've been pretty good.

I'm not sure about Spawn any more.
I've read Spawn from the beginning and it has it's ups and downs and what!? moments.

I almost quit buying it once. After the Doomsday event I'm not sure if I'll be buying Spawn any more.

I'd like to see a few one shots or mini series with a few of the figures.
Raven Spawn would be an interesting character to develop.

Cog and Angel (and I think somebody else) have been retconned out of the story. This is because Todd Mcfarlane seems to never win court cases.

Of course, this has ruined any chance of all the Spawn issues being put into TPBs because most, if not all of the important issues have one of those two characters in it.

I posted my thoughts here:

Really? Have you seen the May solicitations? Click (http://www.imagecomics.com/schedule.php?m=0605). The second volume of the new TPB series contains 13-33. Are Cog and Angel included in them?

Also, notice the solicitation for issue 158 for an indication where the book is right now.

In my opinion Spawn is being written and illustrated better now than anything that was put out after issue one hundred. (Unlike most people I actually enjoyed most of issues 101-149 with the exception of Spawn not being a corpse for a while)

I've been buying Spawn since #1 but I have'nt enjoyed it since somewhere around #80-90. The only reason it's still on my pull list is because it is the single longest uninterrupted run of a comic that I have.

As everyone seems to have mentioned already, it has got a little better since #150, but not much. Maybe it will continue to pick up, maybe not.
I'll still be buying every month just to have the whole run.

I also bought all the one-shots/crossovers and spin-off series that came from Spawn during its heyday. I have to say that the best of these "Curse Of The Spawn" was actually better than the original title itself. It only lasted 29 or 30 issues (I can never remember without digging them out to check) but it was superb. I'd love to see Todd and Co bring that title back one day.

I collect mostly the classic TPs, don't have access to a place where i can get regular back issues, however i am currently reading the manga version Shadows of Spawn if that counts.
