Same reason most movies of the week that they used to run on network TV sucked - they are low budget. Low budget means poor special effects, a script that was passed over to be a cinema movie, and B if not C level actors.

Series often have top notch writers working on them and often better actors. Mini series are events so they get more money as well.

I've heard that many of the SCi-Fi original movies run in movie theatres in Europe & are very successful. That's the main reason Sci-Fi makes them.

Yeah I think alot of them are filmed on the cheap in Prauge. Sci-Fi probably doesn't neccessarily produce everything they call an original, they just air it first in the states. Personally, I think they should advertise their movies differently, call them the "cheap creature feature theater" or something like that, to better differentiate the b-movie crap from actual quality productions like Battlestar Galactica and Dune.

BTW, sorry but your avatar is creeping me out. Camera should be higher next time!

I wish the Sci-Fi Channel would air anime again though. They used to show anime Saturday mornings and I loved it.

If I want to watch every possible television, movie, or even comic book cliche, it can be found in every Sci-Fi Channel original movie. The plots are horrible. Most of them are just monster movies in some form. Worse, they're lazy monster movies.

My cousin likes to joke about the irony of Sci-Fi channel cancelling MST3K, and putting in it's time slot movies that very likely would end up as fodder for the show.

I know this is a little off-topic, but geez man, the avatar, pubic hair showing? Isn't that, pardon the expression, a little low?

That was my thought, but I'm no narc. I'm sure plenty of other people have reported him to the mods.

He doesn't have his pubic hair showing. He's got hair all over his body. I cut off the picture where his pubic hair begins.

There's a black smudge at the bottom of the picture, right around where pubic hair generally begins. If that ain't pubic hair, I really don't want to know what it is.

I edited my picture so you wouldn't go blind from the "black smudge."
