I've seen some commercials over the weekend, and you know what they're airing tomorrow?
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls.
I s**t you not.
What. The. Hell.
They've been showing live action movies for a while now.

They've been showing live action movies for a while now.
I'm aware of that. But this is taking it to another level.

Not really. If any movie is a live action cartoon, its that one.
And there was an Ace Ventura animated series.

Was there?
I know there was a Mask animated series, but I can't recall there being an Ace Ventura one.

There was also a Dumb and Dumber series, and may god have mercy on us all if Cartoon network decides to rerun ANY of that.
Of course, Cartoon Network is now showing SWAT cats in the afternoon...

It's kind of weird how there's like two different sets of character designs in the show, though.

I too enjoyed SWAT Cats, and I'm glad it's getting somep play.
Two other shows I wouldn't mind being hit up again would be Biker Mice From Mars and Captain Simmian and the Space Monkeys.
Also Exo-Squad started off slow, but got very serious and very good towards its end.

I saw the Dumb and dumber show in italy. Not in italian, but I was in italy at the time. Better than the sequel, though.
Also I used to watch swat cats. I even have the game. Cartoon gold!
And just because we seem to be remembering old cartoons that were awesome/sucked big time how about Pirates of Black Water. That one used to scare me.

There was originally going to be two different series.
One was going to heavily rely on CGI for a storytelling method, and features the 'younger' looking characters.
The other is more similar to the old Johnny Quest series, relying more on pulp adventures with the CGI rarely, if not, never appearing.
When both series were being made simultaneously, the company decided to just mix up the two radicaully different episode series together.

Well, this is the network that's giving Justice League Unlimited the big rubber shaft, so this move doesn't come as a surprise to me.

And there was a hot Jessie in a pink shirt, and a slightly less hot Jessie in a green shirt :p
Oh yeah, and sometimes they'd use CGI for QuestWorld, and sometimes not O.o

So they basically drove it into the ground over a creative dispute with the creators?
....Well, its nice to know the CN execs were morons BEFORE Register came on board.

I knew we were in trouble when they aired Burton's Batman a few months ago. Now look at them.

Eh, Burton's Batman at least has a valid connection, given the character's long history in cartoons and comics. Would have made more sense to run Mask of the Phantasm, but still allowable.
Ace Ventura though... eesh.

Eh... with JLU about to be over there won't be a reason to watch that network soon anyway. So, F-U CN. If they do get the new Legion show, I'll just watch it via other means.

I gave up on CN when they relegated their classic cartoons to Boomerang, which sadly my cable service doesn't get. Seriously, they aired "The Goonies" on CN?
The last time they showed anything worth watching was earlier this month when they aired "Spirited Away".

Doesn't CN pretty much only play Foster's Home, Billy and Mandy and Ed, Edd and Eddy all day long until they start airing the stoner shows at night nowadays?

I know it sounds like were just a bunch of angry nerds who are pissed because theyre favorite shows arent on tv anymore becuase theyre not popular with the kids, but its more than that.
CN seems hell bent on showcasing only the most banal, mindless crap there is. I mean, Fosters and Grim are great, but lets look at other shows, like for instance, Teen Titans and JLU.
JLU had storylines that had lots of drama, character developement and just plain smart writing.
Teen Titans had about much depth as a mud puddle. The characters were cliche to the utmost, as were the plots and the dialogue. The gags were almost entirely stolen from various anime shows, and done ad nauseum.
Now, the normal defense against this is pointing out that we're from another generation, and that its just nostalgia that keeps us from liking Teen Titans. Well, thats crap.
Think about this; do you think that Teen Titans will still be talked about 10 years from now, the same way Batman TAS is? Do you think theyll talk about its groundbreaking story telling and characters? No. It was done entirely to cash in on the current anime trend, and itll be forgotten just as fast. Same goes for things like The Batman and Puffy Ami Yummi.
Cookie cutter shows like that are pumped out because theyre bland, popular tripe that little kids with 2 min attention spans will buy some of their crap. Theres nothing wrong with wanting to make a profit, but the fact of the matter is that these shows just arent up to the same quality of their predecessors, and no amount of justification is going to change that.

CN needs to put Yu Yu Hakusho on in a decent timeslot. Not at 5 a.m. on Saturdays.
It used to be great on Adult Swim.
I enjoyed the Ace Ventura, The Mask & Dumb And Dumber cartoons. *hides in bunker*

Well to be fair...when Batman The Animated series came out it was like a breath of fresh air, especially compared to the previous Hanna Barbera and Filmation shows. Same thing with Superman which I recall didn't do so well until it got into Bruce Timm and Paul Dini's hands. I used to like Thundercats and Silverhawks and Transformers as a kid--and now I look at those shows and wince but considering at the time there was nothing quite like them on the air, I can see why I liked them.

Spirited away
Princess Mononoke
Castle in the sky

Id like to see CN bring back Tenchi. Maybe putting it on Teen Titans former timeslot since thare isn't any other new show right now.
I wouldn't mind having the old TMNT animated show return just so I could compare the old show from the new one.

Lets see, the show was enjoyed by a lot of people, especially but not just kids. Thats what it was made to do.
So some people think it sucked, how does that matter. You can find people who think anything sucks. Its that whole 'differing tastes' thing.

"This guy is more boring than that guy on Full House".
EDIT: What's more is that most of the supposed subplot in the series, motivations of characters, etc, which BTW isn't on the screen is.... supposedly... all conveyed through imaginary subtext!
Why did Slade want to steal three microchips? It was never stated. Maybe they were a part of a doomsday machine? Maybe he was going to sell them?
All conjecture and theories fans make up after the fact.
Even people who are self proclaimed fans of the show have noticed this and made statements to this fact.
Z-Mage has, on record, stated that any plot of any Teen Titans episode cannot stand up to scrutiny past it's original airdate. And He's a FAN OF THE SHOW!
So yeah. What really amazes me are people that give this show more depth than there's actually there.
Reminds me of people that listens to Beatles records backwards for messages about Paul being dead.

There were some recent Tenchi direct-to-video episodes done in Japan a while back, so perhaps they could air those. I believe there was also another spinoff series as well.

Yeah. They liked it. Now. Mainly because it was made by talentless hacks who crammed anything even remotely popular into a show to make up for its lack of plots of characterization.
When people look back in ten years to Teen Titans and say "Damn, that was a great show." Like they do with Batman:TAS, then tell me how great they were.

Bizzare, nonsensical, random crap does not a show make. And the first guy who says Aqua Teen; save it. 3oz Mouse doesnt deserve to lick the boots of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

CN says live-action will be a "fairly small component" of its programming. (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=9246)
Frankly, I'd prefer either no live-action or at best minor live-action elements in a predominately animated scenario, but I guess I can live with this.
