I have a small cold, so when I blow my nose I throw the tissues in the toilet, but I don't flush because it's just a couple of tissues. My wife says that I should throw them in the trash instead of the toilet. I don't think that germ infested body waste should go in the trash, so she told me to ask someone else: Well?

I'd continue to use the toilet and then just flush them all the next time you use the bathroom.

Nonsense!
You should use the same snotrag all day long, and then keep it under her pillow during the night for emergencies.

I would go for the trashcan. The germ infestation on the tissues isn't a problem unless you go digging through your trash. Leaving it in the toilet for other people to enjoy.. ew. And if you flush them every single time you are just wasting water.

Your wife probably just doesn't wanna waste water. Typical woman thing to do. Besides, your trashcan is ALREADY germ-infested.

Put the lethal germs in your garbage! That way you can infect and thereby kill-off any homeless bums digging through your trash.

put them in your pocket till you have to use the bathroom.empty pockets then flush. either that or the window. or bathroom trash then flush them later.

Tissue paper doesn't disentigrate in water as easily as toilet paper - so you may clog your toilet.
And unless you dig through your trash - it's not going to infect anyone of you throw it there.
But in the end - this is one of those things that just doesn't matter. So why fight about it? Come to think of it, why am I posting an opinion about it? :D

I guess my super-lazy/practical answer is to put 'em wherever is closer. If I'm in the bathroom, the toilet is a perfectly fine option. If I'm near a trashcan, they go there. So long as there's not a heap of used tissues somewhere, I don't know why it would matter what method you used to dispose of them.

I'm not sure that it makes much difference but how could flushing the stuff be less sanitary than throwing it in a trash can, at least for the houshold in question? After all doesn't flushing it remove it from the premises while trashing it leaves it in a recepticles until one takes it out? As an aside, our dog likes to dig thru the bathroom trash, snotty tissues especially so I'm an advocate of flushing.

I voted trashcan, but only because tissues can clog your toilet, being thicker than toilet paper.

Just wipe it the way God, and the Acme Novelty Company, intended: use your hand.
