I was moving the XBox upstairs yesterday and hooked it up to make sure it was working properly on the new TV.

Switched on Star Wars KOTOR 2 and thought I'd play for half-an-hour or so before turning in.

13 hours later, I stagger off and collapse onto my bed at 10am.

That still didn't break my all-time record which was playing Skies Of Arcadia for 18 hours, stopping only for pizza, Mountain Dew and bathroom breaks.

So what are your most outrageous feats of gaming excess?

The first LAN party I attended was at my ex girlfriend's house (her father had a spare network hub), me and 8 of our friends got together for a massive multiplayer gaming session. We played all of the big multiplayer games of the time (Q3 Arena, Counterstrike, Unreal Tourney, Mechwarrior4 etc)

I reckon we played for around 20 hours. Good times indeed!

Mountain Dew
I thought you lived in the UK? If so, where can I get a source of Mountain Dew? I love that stuff!

I haven't had any gaming sessions that epic since High School. Back then though, my weekends were dedicated to the Sega Genesis. My favorite games were the two Shining Force games and Lunar: Eternal Blue, all of which I replayed numerous times and which were the subject of gaming sessions that would regularly stretch on for 20 hours or more.

I one went about 20-ish hours playing Burnout 3 on XBOX Live. I also recently played a 4 player Wi-Fi Mario Kart session from about 9pm to 5:30am and then after about 2 hours break (not sleep) went straight into another Mario Kart tourney.

23 hours or so on my second play through of Final Fantasy 7. Only stopped for toilet and food. But even then I carried on playing while I was eating.

EDIT: Noticed we are not talking about in general, as in no taking a piss or whatever.

So it was from the session of FF7 above but 9 hours of it was straight no break.

Generally I take a break after a few hours if I'm really absorbed into a game. It's not because the little warnings in the booklets always say you should, I just feel the need for a break now and then.

But one time back in high school me and a friend went through the ancient dungeon of Lufia 2, taking turns controlling the game. More recently I played through it on an emulator using savestates to cheat death and was amazed that we'd ever managed it the honest way.

For MMO vets like myself its not uncommon to start playing Saterday morning and not stopping until Sunday night.

The older I get, the harder that is to pull off though.

My record is 8 hours playing FF7 only stopping to grab a beer or take a piss.

Recently I did 4 hours, which is amazing to me seeing how now if I can go 2 hours straight I will consider it a marathon session, playing DQ8.

I spend about 7 or 8 hours playing Shadow Hearts II. The only stopped to eat and bathroom breaks. I'm currently doing the same thing with Dragon Quest 8.

For a video game? 15 hours, FFT. Then again, I used to play it in 9 hour nights(got a night job, one night a week off, and nothing else to do, literally)

For rpgs? One continuous live game, for thirty hours. broken only by the usual. For chat? About eight hours, if I'm remembering right.

That's because games are getting easier and because we don't play them as much. The combination is deadly to our gaming skills.

For rpgs? One continuous live game, for thirty hours. In college, we did a 72-hour marathon gaming session, rotating between 4 gamemasters. I think we had all of an hour break during that time.

Oh, for the good ol' days!

Nah. Not to me, at least. I'm better now than when I was a kid, even though I don't play as much.

And there are still hard games, they just usually give you options for difficulty levels... Like F-Zero GX, or the Timesplitters series.

Diplomacy for like 12 hours with six players.

We mangled the rules for Risk one time with my family and we played one game for two days.

I had a few months where I was depressed and unemployed few years ago. I played Fable for a couple days, from waking to sleeping, and FF9 over a week or so. I've never really done the staying up for days thing. I just didn't do anything BUT sleep and play.
