just bought and read the Giffen/DeMatteis Justice League: A New Beginning, Justice League International: The Secret Gospel of Maxwell Lord, Formerly Known as the Justice League, and I Can't Believe it's not the Justice League. Some very fun stuff there and great reads, but a few questions.

The second "mini-series," from JLA Classified opened with a caption saying "Ten Years Ago." Since it takes place seemingly directly after the first mini-series does that mean the action of both is in the mid-1990s (being written in 2004, 2005)? The second mini, with Guy Gardner, has more time-specific references to "current" happenings like Gardner's changes and his yellow ring, Jordan being Spectre, Green Arrow being dead. But the first mini (I think) had a reference to a dea GA. Are these supposed to be in-continuity? And if so, what were these characters doing in the mid-90s? Were they lost in that void of being unused once Morrison's Justice League started? And why isn't more of the JLI collected? It's good, it's popular, has a lot of fans, including creators. so, any help out there? thanks.

oh, and would "Dark Star" or whatever the bar is become "Warriors"?

Though all very good, the minis took place out of continuity. I know, it sucks doesnt it.

I hope DC has the guts to publish this books saying it was 10 years ago or something, then Blue Beetle can still be alive and Elongated mans wife and so on.

All books mustn't be from the same timeline, it's perfecly normal to tell storys about something that happened a long time ago.

But i'm guessing this is the end of this books, at least till we fans of that era is writers of DC comic books.

AND some day this run will be a classic, even if they try to forget about it now it will be reprinted some day.

The JSA in it's current incarnation didn't exist 10 years ago in DC time. There'd be a big continuity gaff right there if you set it in the past.

Öh JSA, they don't have to be in the storys at all, just use what was around at the time.
Some comics can be for fun you know, not heavily depending on the latest crossovers and characters.

But as i stated, i believe not, the end has come for JLI/JLE

I don't know where you saw "Ten years ago..." My copy has the caption: "A long time ago, in a decade far, far away"....A play off the opening line of Star Wars and the fact that the JLI was published almost 2 decades ago.

i looked. i must have filled in the blank from a decade ago, i.e. when the Morrison JLA run began.
