I was listening to Samuel Jackson on NPR the other day and he said something that made me think. The man's been in over 70 movies. Now that's a lot of movies. And I love Sammy. My thought was, if you could only pick one actor's work, you'd have a lot of great movies if you picked Sam Jackson.

A Time To Kill
Pulp Fiction
Star Wars I, II, III

etc, etc, etc,

So here's a game. Pick three actors. Every movie they were in goes in your imaginary film library. But that's it. That's all the movies you get, so choose well.

My three picks, until I change my mind-

Samuel Jackson
Harrison Ford
Anthony Hopkins.

I'll come back later with my filmographies and see how I made out.

You don't necessarily want famous stars, you want guys who have been in a lot of movies.

John Vernon
John Carradine
Charles Lane

Among them, these guys have been in about a thousand pictures.

Wow, this is hard, because you want people that have been in a lot of movies....but that have been in good movies as well. So I guess....here you go.

1. Gene Hackman (Hey, a good pick)
2. Harrison Ford
3. Kevin Bacon (You, know, weird choice, but I have yet to see a complete and utter disaster with Kevin Bacon in it.)

I've thought about this, and I'm going with

1.Matt Damon
2.Brian Cox
3.Gary Oldman

With Cox, I get everything from Braveheart to Super Troopers to X-Men 2.

With Damon, I get the Bourne movies, EuroTrip, Ocean's Eleven, School Ties, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, various Kevin Smith movies, etc.

With Gary Oldman, I get the Professional, some Harry Potter movies, Dracula, JFK, Fifth Element, Hannibal, even Batman Begins.

It's hard to choose just three. I seriously considered Bruce Willis, Steve Buscemi, Samuel L Jackson, Clint Howard, John Ratzenberger (Empire Strikes Back, Superman, all the Pixar films), and Henry Silva (Manchurian Candidate, Above the Law, Ocean's Eleven, Cannonball Run 2 & Ghost Dog). Ask me in a week and I might very well turn in a totally different list. I was mostly trying to get a large variety of films I really enjoyed.

So here's a game. Pick three actors. Every movie they were in goes in your imaginary film library. But that's it. That's all the movies you get, so choose well.

* Paul Newman, that's just an obvious choice for me when I look at my favorite movies through the years.

* Al Pacino, that's a strong filmography right there.

* Woody Allen, I'm pretty sure I'd get a kick out of every movie he's in.

This, of course, leaves out pretty much all my favorite movies, but I guess that's how this game works.

Jim Carrey - Because Eternal Sunshine is genius and everyone needs laughs
Nicholas Cage - Despite some really crappy stuff he's still been in some great flicks.
Guy Pearce - My world needs "Ravenous" and "Memento" in it.
