Earlier this day I was looking over the shelves of a local comic store, and I noticed that it had issues one through to seven of Red Sonja on it.

Now, I've been enjoying Conan a great deal, and I like fantasy work in general, so I was wondering it it would be worth picking this series up.

I bought the first 2 issues and noticed that the issues are usually late. But if lateness doesn't bother you, then you should pick at least one to see if you'll like it.

I'm a couple issues behind on my reading, but it's been fun fluff. I regularly read an uncle's Red Sonja's as a kid in the 70s though so there's a sentimental bias.

Its not too bad a book but as someone mentioned already. Its been behind for quite awhile now.Issue#6 came out this past week so its getting better but I think its still at least 1 or 2 issues behind where it should be.

I'm not at all into fantasy type books, and picked up number one on a whim...I've been hooked since. I'm really enjoying it, it's got great art, and a pretty good storyline so far.
It has had a lot of lateness issues, but it appears as though it's back on track for now.
I'd definitely recommend trying issue 1 at least, see what you think.

It's pretty good. It's not nearly as good as Conan, but it stands up well on its own merits.

Where the Conan series is trying to be as faithful as possible to Bloch's original style, Red Sonja is a more standard type of fantasy series.

But I enjoyed the first arc, especially the morally ambiguous conclusion.

Red Sonja is a fun book. A late book, but fun.

Its actually been quite a surprise to me. I didn't expect to stay on past #0 but I've enjoyed the first arc (and #7) immensely, and the Thulsa Doom mini is shaping up well so far - even the one shots have been good.

Yes, there have been lateness issues but these seem to have been largely resolved now, and the last 3 issues have all shipped really close together - I think #6 and #7 even shipped in the same week.

Red Sonja is a really great book. Some of you mentioned the lateness of the book, but they are releasing the book biweekly right now to catch up to where it is supposed to be. The writer said he had through #18 or something completed, so I don't think it'll be late for awhile.

Yes, it is worth it. Not Conan-level in quality, but they don’t have Busiek either. On its own merits, it’s been a solid comic. The one-shot special Ron Marz just did, “Red Sonja Goes East” was also very good. And I’ve just read the first issue of the mini, “. . . vs. Thulsa Doom,” by Peter David and Luke Lieberman, which got off to a great start as well. Nothing groundbreaking but you will be entertained.

I can’t speak for you, but that’s all I ask for.

It's really good, and the lateness is being fixed with multiple issues released in a small timeframe.
