I just finished reading it for the second time, and my question is this cannon? My reason for this question is Cyclops showed so much concern for Rachel, and now he could almost careless for her. Whats the deal? Is this an Elsewhere tale? Or is this just another way of writers not respecting continuity?

Yeah, it's canon. Times have changed.

the story IS cannon, it take s place between x-men 30 and 31, after the x-wedding.

i would really like mor ewriters to acknowledge it though. Taking this mini into account, by x-men 31 jean and scott have already spent 13 years married...

Which in Marvel's sliding scale is around a little over 3 years. :)

And I bet most writers don't even know that or chose not to address it because they make it look like Scott and Jean had been married for at least one year instead of at least ten.

can someone clear up the confusion?
I didn't read the mini, how were they together for 13 years?
Were they older in this story or is it set in the future or did they time travel?

thank you and all very good points. Still doesn't make me like how Scott treats Rachel.

Scott & Jean, as Slim & Redd, spent 13 years on the future Earth raising Scott & Madelyne's son, Nathan Christopher Charles Summers who became known as Nathan Dayspring, aka Cable. Rachel Summers, Phoenix, in the meantime spent decades forming the Clan Askani, a group of women with vast psionic powers, to battle Apocalypse. Basically, Cyclops & Jean Grey help Nathan, Cable, defeat Apocalypse in the far flung future. Jean Grey takes the name Phoenix back from Rachel.

Stryfe is also born from this experience when Rachel creates a Cable clone just in case. However, the clone is abducted by Apocalypse's men & Apocalypse raises Stryfe to be his heir. Literally, Apocalypse plans to place his soul into Stryfe's body, but is foiled when he learns that Stryfe is a clone.

Rachel Summers dies from old age. In Marvel Universe time, Scott & Jean spent 13 years raising Cable, but were placed into the rightful bodies just moments after they left in the present.

I think the answer is really Chris Claremont. He doesn't like Cyclops anymore so he tends to scrub out his good characteristics.

I wouldn't call that good reason, Scott is an adult, Emma is an adult, Rachel is an adult. Her way of dealing with "daddy has a new girlfriend" has been anything but mature.

Because he cheated on Jean with Emma, and hooked up with her right after Jean's death. Just thank your lucky stars she didn't see Emma and Scott playing tonsile hockey on Jean's grave. :p

No, those are the reasons that prompt *a* response from her. Her response instead of trying to talk to Scott, was bitch about it to her friends, got into bitchfests with Emma and drag Alex "sorry I was too distracted by leaving Polaris at the altar to shtup Annie to pay any attention to what my brother was doing" Summers to a bar to get his sympathy. She is old enough that Scott doesn't need to give her the "Listen, honey, mommy and daddy tried it but really don't love each other anymore. We are still friends though."-speech

I think it could also so be that not only is daddy with his mistress now that mom is dead, but daddy's mistress just happens to be someone that tried to kill them in the past and was in large part responsible for mom killing 5 billion people, then commiting suicide.

I don't know...That'd kinda piss me off.

I really liked this mini when I first read it, but never could finsih my second reading. Found it extremely boring. Go figure.

Yeah, Scott and Jean were married in total for like... 15 years?

And lived over 40.

basically rachel and the Askanis pulled scott and jean's minds through timeto the future where they inhabited the cloned bodies of their offspring , and raised Cable until he was 15. then they travelled back to the present but retained their memories. That makes Scott and Jean somewhere 40-something in 20-something bodies. And they literally raised Cable, which hasn't been brought up recently or when they interact

Yeah, a bit. But don't expect them to brush each other's hair and share brownies.

..... What? You expect her to just accept it?

..... What? You expect her to just accept it?

No, but let's look at it this way:
Born in a future, saw everybody she loved and care about it die or be imprisoned: She dealt with it in a mature way.
Captured, brainwashed, hunted fellow mutants for a loving: Dealt with it in a mature way.
Boyfriend shot in front of her eyes?: Dealt with in a mature way.
Finding out that she'll never be born in her new reality: Dealt with.
Captured by Mojo and enslaved: Dealt with.
Catapulted into the far future: Dealt with.
Enslaved by Bogan: Dealt with.
Daddy got a new girlfriend: OMG!! Hate him, hate her!! How could they do this to meeeeeeeee...

As a certain Mother Askani would say:"What Is, Is." Things are the way they are, either accept or do something about it, but complaining and wishing things were otherwise are useless. A philosophy Rachel formed after years of hardship and problems that she overcame. Too bad she has now reverted to the emotional equivalent of a 13 year old.

Absolutely. Mother Askani would slap the ever loving tar out of Reload Rachel. Rachel now seems to have gone back to normal and is dealing and accepting the situation as opposed to just bitching about it.

However I was disappointed that when Emma tells Scott that Rachel "should never have being born", Scott says nothing. Nothing. She saved his friggen son and made him Jesus!

:D :D :D true that. but on rachels attitude i think she was running from her past, thats why she was acting the way she did. until her past was slammed back into her face with the death of the greys and the sentinels

Agreed. Jean acknowledged it while Cable was an X-Man, during the whole Neo/Search for Cyclops kind of period, but it hasn't really been acknowledged by Cyclops in a long time.

As for Rachel, well, at least Brubaker has been kinda acknowledging that Cyclops is technically her dad in Deadly Genesis, but with them still both being in seperate books after the summer I guess this will still remain largely unexplored... :(

Well Rachel has being calling him "dad" now in Grey's End and the current arc. Plus with Uncanny X-Men now going to feature some Summers history and Vulcan/Havok maybe Ray will be apart of that?
