My LCS is taking 50% off all backbin issues.
My question to you classic comics readers is which comics should I buy (if the issues are available, of course)?
The absolute best issues/arcs that you can think of. Silver-Bronze Age (late 60s-early 90s) preferred. Doesn't matter which publisher or the characters, the most popular/your most favorite issues!
Genres of favor: Crime, Western, Superhero (Of course!)
but anything will do!
Thank you!

Well when you threw in superhero comics it is really so much good books to get that it's feels hard even to begin name some of them :)

Hmmm... there's lots of good stuff to choose, but some really really good stuff that shouldn't cost too much includes:
Bat Lash 1-7
Brave and Bold - any issue - but 107, 118, 148, 165 and 197 are favourites of mine
E-Man - 1-10
Spirit - any copies of Warren or Kitchen sink mags you can get
Star Spangled War Stories/Unknown Soldier - #183-#203
World's Finest #244-282 - the 'Dollar Comics' book are filled with great surprises

Dr. Strange #55.
Criteria:
Very good writer - Roger Stern
One of the greatest artists EVER - Michael Golden
Famous person testimonial - Art Adams says its his favourite comic ever.
And, most importantly - it's basically a one shot short and it's really cheap!

that goes for just about any & all "dollar comic" releases, actually. ditto for the various & sundry 100-paper super-spectaculars.

Yep. The Dollar Adventures are great (esp. the Justice Society).
I'd also recommend the Adventure issues with Starman and Plastic Man.

come to think of it, you'll also want to snap up any stray copies of house of mystery 156 you might see lying around, & then you'll *ahem* want to obtain my mailing address, since that would complete my run of the original dial-h-for-hero ...

I recommend the Steve Englehart / Joe Staton run of Green Lantern / Green Lantern Corps. They started with #188. Later in the run, there were a number of fill-in artist (including Gil Kane returning for the last issue, #224) and Staton's gets a bit weaker IMO (although I think that may be due to the switch in inkers). But all issues are worth getting. And Bill Willingham does a great job as guest penciller in #218-219.

Let me second the Jungle Action and GL recommendations. I've only plowed through a small bit of Jungle Action (with Black Panther) and it's some jaw-droppin' stuff! GL, on the other hand, is cool no matter how you cut'im. :D

Heck, I'll third those GL's - good stuff. A few issues either in that run or slightly before has Dave Gibbons art too!
(Never read Jungle Action...hides face in shame...)

Yeah, the Gibbons run (teamed with Len Wein) was just before. It's issues #172-186 (minus a couple of reprint/fill-in issues). I really prefer the Englehart/Staton stuff, but that's not to say the Gibbons run is bad.
I picked up a couple of Jungle Action issues based on raves, but there part of the big back log of comics I've bought but haven't had time to read yet.
Another recommendation: I think Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez did a spectacular job on his very, very brief run (starting with #7) of New Teen Titans when George Perez left the baxter paper (1984) NTT title.

ya know what I have been itching to re-read, but they're in my parents' basement in Chicago, and I'm in LA with no room for long boxes right now?
the grant/breyfogle batman stuff. based on my admittedly spotty memory and limited web research, looks to be about Batman 455-493, with the last half very off and on. Also Detective Comics 582-621, with some breaks in there too.
i remember good fairly short story arcs, like 3-issues each usually, with great batman writing and AMAZING pencils. his batman is in my top five, easy. and i bet they're out there for a song.
