I'm not sure how much out-and-out drum-beating is aloud around here, but I'm digging on a book called "Action Philosophers" from a tiny press in New York.
It's kinda' like the DC "Big Book" approach to philosophers, with each issue having some type of cohesive theme covering 3 philosophers. The latest comic is "enemies of the State" themed, covering Marx, Machiavelli and the Kabballa.
Eh. Good stuff at any rate. Any one else buying this one?

I haven't had a chance to pick up the latest issue yet, but I'm absolutely loving this series. It's smart without being pretentious, and wickedly funny--it's one of the few books I feel confident sharing with just about anyone and everyone--out of the twenty or so people I've pushed it on, only one didn't like it.

Yes, yes, yes-- I think this's one of the funniest educational comics around--
have all the issues so far; my only complaint is in their numbering, which is sporadic when present at all-- I believe we've seen three issues, but it might be four, and most of them are numbered 'one'. While there's no need for sequential reading--all the work is 'done in one'--it's difficult to remember how many issues I've got, and to know if I'm missing any. But, perhaps that's an existential issue with which I am meant to deal.
I find they've become a little narration-heavy, but nonetheless the writing's clear and most often crisp, and certainly the subject matter's fascinating.
sure wish more others had your good taste in comics!

I'm glad recommending good books doesn't get you warned or banned...I was really nervous my post was just going to come off as flag waving.
I can see what you're saying, Matt Levin, about the numbering. I think they run adds in the books themselves for their other publications, so the numbering thing, while a pain, has a remedy.
I look forward to a trade. The inking could get tighter, and they could use more backgrounds, but hey...It's a good book and it comes out semi-regularly, so credit where credit is due!

We did an interview with the creators of this book back in October of 2005:

Damnit! I thought this was a 1 shot! I just emailed my LCS to add it to my pull list. I have issue #1 & loved it!

I picked up the most recent issue today because I recognized the title from this thread (although I didn't realize it at the time). I'll read it tonight and let you know what I think.

I got the trade of the first three issues last week and enjoyed it immensely. I alrwdy pretty much knew what Jung, Freud, Campbell, Nietschze etc. contributed to philosophy but this was easily the best popular work on the subject I've read.
One of those books you can recommend easily for those wanting to be impressed by comic books.
