As far as I know there is no difference in terms of content. I don't know a 5 dollar difference isn't much. I'd go for the hardbacks.

TDKSA is shortened and called DK2 and I personally thought it was lousy.

I'm reading DKSA for the first time at the moment. And all I can say is...
WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO MILLER BETWEEN PARTS ONE and TWO?

DKSA is one book I will never read. The grotesque art is enough to keep me away.

I bought the DKSA hardcover just because they almost give them to you for nothing, it's remarkable how bad that book is and ugly too, what was Miller thinking?
The HC i want like Long Helloween and Dark Victory has become impossible to get new:(

Stay away from DK2. There are better things you can spend your money on. Like a good comic, let's say...................

DK2 has Catgirl...on rollerskates! We all wanted to see that, right!?
...right?

If Batman were really that smart he'd invent ice skates that double as rollerskates.

It's amazing how DKR can be so amazing and definitive of the character, and DK2 can...well...haunt my dreams...

I think he tried to mix to much drugs with the writing that time.
When i tried to read it it was very hard to tell apart diffrent things that happened in the book, very bad for the reading experience.

Fell I've finished it, and...
...Damn.
People had told me it was bad. But still I had to read DKR's sequel. I'd read everywhere on the 'net it was bad. But still I couldn't resist. Every review and opinion was negative. But then it appeared on Ebay for £3 ($5) with 20 mins left to bid. I was done for. My curiosity just got the better of me.
Sometimes I wish I listened to the advice people sent my way.
Part one isn't THAT bad, but then no one should interpret that as praise. Part two just left me thinking I'd entered a world where Joel Schumacher's Batman (probably George Clooney) had entered into the Fly's transporter with Triple X. It was horrendous.
The colouring that people had complained about I found the most entertaining and redeeming of the whole misguided affair. Frank Miller is a great comic book artist/writer and someone as untalented as myself should never feel confident in criticising his work as I do now. But I don't care.
NO ONE SHOULD EVER BUY THIS. EVER. I AM ACTUALLY LESS INTELLIGENT FOR READING IT.

Yeah, it was one of those 'So bad it hurts' type of thing. I mean I whine about Miller a lot, but I actually like a lot of what he's done...just not DK2, ASBAR (though it's entertaining in its own way) and, as a Classics Major, I had a few issues with 300, but I still enjoyed it.

Yes sometimes you got to make the misstake on yuor own, how many times have you heard people dis comics that you when have read liked, it happens, but not with DK2
I feel stupid to own it and to have payed for it even if it was only 12 bucks in HC, it's not something i would like to show people not into comics, then they really would think i'm crazy :D

I sold my copy but I kept book 1 cuz it's the only one that's slighly worth reading and I kinda like the graphic art style just not much.

Part of me believed people were bashing it because; a) Its cool to bash, b) its cool to bash Miller, and c) being a sequel to something as mighty as DKR it was always going to be a let down to some.
But it was as bad as people said it would be.

Yeah its not DKR but what is?
It isnt so much a Dark Knight Sequel as a contination of that DC world where the superheros all vanished. I thought it was awesome to the Atom and how Flash was trapped.
Its strange and yes the art is off even by Miller standards(easily his worst art ever) but I found it entertaining.
