Mike Carey Interview at YMB (http://www.yourmomsbasement.com/archives/2006/02/mike_carey.html)
Mike Carey has an in-depth discussion with YourMomsBasement.com about the end of Lucifer, tackling Neverwhere, and what he has planned for Wetworks and X-Men.

You're approaching the end of your run on Lucifer. Looking back what are the high points for you? Any regrets?
Neverwhere has been both a television series and a novel. What were the challenges in adapting it again for a third medium?
You'll be working on [Wetworks] with Whilce Portacio, the original creator of the series. What kind of working relationship do you have together?
The most interesting character for me is Sabretooth. He's a mass murderer, cannibal and overall unpleasant fellow. Are you going to try and redeem him or just turn him loose?

I'm introducing a hundred and fifty new characters in #188, and another two hundred in #189. And they all fight. And they all have superpowers you never heard of before.
Interesting !! It could be another "Neo" fiasco , or it could end up being really good , and another group of x villain . Much needed currently , especially with Carey's team stealing two of their regular foes .
Oh , but shouldnt this be in the X section instead ?

Good interview, I guess. I'm still not happy with the X-Men still being at the mansion. The Xavier Institute needs to be blown up, and I don't think the X-Men should really ever return. Especially a team that has Mystique, Cable, and Sabretooth on it.

So I guess the team will leave the mansion judging by the interview.

He said they'll be at the mansion to start with.
I dunno about YOU, but that implies to me that they will NOT be eventually, and it will be done through a story, not just an arbitrary "they aren't there anymore."
MEGA EDIT
That message sounded pretty mean---I didn't intend it that way. I just did a lot of emphasising. Hope nobody is angry.

Great interview! Carey's run sounds like it'll be terrific.

Another very interesting interview with Mr Carey.
I know there are a few people on here with a great amount of suspicion regarding what could happen with this title, but like Mike himself says, judge him by the work, not the rumours.
I personally have high hopes for his run. We're talking about a guy who was Neil Gaiman's choice to adapt Neverwhere (And if you don't know who Neil is you should be ashamed of yourself) and that's something anybody would be proud of.
I think Carey will appeal to those who were fans of Morrison's run, and a good many others besides. Going back to his Vertigo Neverwhere limited series, any of you wondering how the book might look working with Bachalo might want to pick up a few issues of this for a taste.
While there are a number of differences between Bachalo's art and Glen Fabry's (And it's pretty bloody good, as always, I can tell you) there are similarities in the dark feel that Bachalo can achieve, and arguably has been achieving recently in some of his House of M work (Especially that Juggernaut, Nocturne and Captain Britain cover) and his work on Grey's End.
I think this run could be a real pleasant surprise for people.

Interesting in that he seems sincere. I'm likely to give it a chance because I like Rogue but I still have to say I hate nearly every character but her in this line up. It's very hard to get me interested in a book about a bunch of characters I can't stand. Even if you treat Sabretooth as what he is, he's going to be hard pressed to make me believe they need this guy on the team (or even should be letting him run loose - what good are those Sentinels at the Mansion anyway?). Generally I find Sabretooth a bad one trick pony Wolverine villain and we have way too many Wolverine copies as it is. Cable has always annoyed me unless Fabian is writing him, Mystique was bad off after Dreams End but Milligan has made me hate her with a passion and Iceman and Cannonball are just meh to me.
I think Carey will appeal to those who were fans of Morrison's run,
Well not being a fan of Morrison's run and found it incredibly overhyped especially the last arc, that doesn't win me over but I hope for better.
I think this run could be a real pleasant surprise for people.
I can hope so because Milligan's has been a huge disappointment and I loved that most of that team line-up. If he was writing that team instead of this one, I might be more enthused.

This guy does a LOT of interviews. If this keeps up we'll know his entire run before his first issue hits the shelves ;)

Reading his comments on dealing with religious themes on Lucifer, it also strikes me that he could fit well on the x-books. It's how describes it as wanting it to be a discourse rather than a tract. I feel that one of the greatest mistakes of writers taking on an X-Book can make is to see the title purely as a parable of oppression and descrimination, and start writing a very one-dimensional stereotypical diatribe about whichever kind of descrimination they find applies to themselves, and then force that viewpoint upon the reader.
Hearing comments in interviews like thst inspires me to think this would not happen with Carey.

He's just not used to it, and is being polite, I think. :D I would expect less of these once he gets into the swing of things...

Humm so far he mostly repeated the same things over and over . With only a new tidbit each time .
Not that i mind , and he pretty much had to justify Mystique's an Sabretooth's presence on the roster .

personally, i'm not looking all that forward to his run, just because of the characters featured in it. none of them really appeal to me, so i guess i'll check it out, but we'll see. i do really like chris bachalo (more so when he was on Generation X), so i guess it remains to be seen if carey can get X-Men out of this lackluster funk brought on by Austen and Milligan.
