Katsulas was an incredible actor, and I loved his work on Babylon 5.

RIP

What a terrible thread title: this is sad news for everyone who's a fan of this very good actor (who, in my mind, is the one armed killer Dr. Kimble was after!).

THAT'S who that was? Wow, I never knew. I have a hard time recognizing sci-fi people when they aren't in their makeup.

He was also the recurring Star Trek:TNG character, Romulan commander Tomalak.

Damn. That sucks. He was positivly brilliant and the role could naver have developed into what it became with out him.

I heard about it Yesterday on the Jerry Doyle Show and Jerry was telling all about his good friend Andy K. From what was said it seems like that Katsulas was a truly good person. His passing is sad news for sci-fi in general.

This is horrible news!

He was also fantastic as the Romulan Commander Tomulak on "TNG."

Peter Jurassik once said of Katsulas, that if you wanted to talk to Andreas, you'd better do it before make-up, because once it was on, you only got G'Kar for the rest of the day! For me, he was the beating heart of Babylon 5, and had one of the best developed character arcs in the history of American TV.

Sad, sad news. Although he is most famous for his role on Babylon 5, that character he played more than made up for it. The world seems a little sadder knowing that G'Kar is not around.

I really want to see more "B5" stuff, but we're already down two cast members. It's just too sad.

Jeff Conaway will be gone by the end of the year.

he's in REALLY bad shape.

Andreas was a true Gentleman. . he was my favorite cast member of B5 that I ever met (yeah, even more personable than Peter Jurissick or Claudia Christaian).

Luckily, he was at Dragon*con the same year that all of the B5 singers were there, and so I not only bought the CD, but was able to get everyone to sign it. . including Andreas -- who apologized for his "bad" singing in the autograph :)

he will be missed.

Drug problems, but he went into rehab and last I saw it was successful. According to an article posted on the web on January 16th of this year.

last I heard (early Feb).. he had a pretty bad relapse.

and to think, this is the guy who was all about Jesus when he signed pics for me years ago at Dragon*con (no really. . he mentioned that I should give my life to Jesus in the AUTOGRAPH. . it was borderline offensive, but at the time, he was apparently "born again").

seems the man didn't stick with it.

R.I.P. Andreas.
His performance as G'Kar on B5 was just amazing. he also played a good heavy in tv stuff prior.

WOW! Where did you hear about this, Bert? I've heard nothing in the trades, or around town. I knew he was "born again," before he joined B5, and he seemed to be doing well in his battle against drugs. Of course, and addict is always an addict, and has to be vigilant. I wish him well. It sounds like he needs it!

It's been all over E!Online (I'm guessing he's getting all the attention due to being kicked off of VH1's Celebrity Fit Club, and he just showed back up in last week's show (filmed late last year, I believe).

of course, all the stories refer to him as the actor from "Taxi". . but at least a couple have mentioned he was on B5 too (as a footnote, but it's mentioned).

Thanx for the info.

One thing that always annoyed me about Connaway, was that he NEVER did anything to push B5! He was on Regis and Kathie Lee one morning, and talked about Taxi, Greece, and his part in the revival of Greece on Broadway, and it was only when Regis mentioned it as they were going to commercial that he did a half-hearted, "Oh yeah, watch "Babylon Five!"

Wasnt he p.o.'ed that he didnt get more screen time, or have a bigger role? I think there was a big thing about him with the show. One of the reasons that he had a much bigger role in the final season.

Maybe it was his acting. Maybe it was the writing in season 5. But I found Jeff Conaway's character really disappointing when he became head of security.

I did enjoy his arc with the human supremacist group (Night Watch?).
