Being a man raised on comics in the 90's, Jim Lee can do no wrong. I think Lee's cover looks good. And again, that is why art is subjective.

guys jim lee sucks. I don't know how you see anything "cool" or good in that.

Look man, let's settle this: Damion Scott sucks, ScottMcDaniel sucks, or Rob Liefeld sucks. But to say that Lee sucks, you have to be pretty much in denial.

Anyway, I'd like to see that in b&w only.

How can you not like Jim Lee? He's the Godd@mn Jim Lee??? I bought "For Tomorrow" just because of his artwork, and the giant back-to-back Superman and Batman cover posters (which look AWESOME by the way). I love all of his IC covers (especially #4, Superboy is this man!), and this one looks extremly sweet (althought I hope that isn't Superboy's shirt as the "Death of Superman" flag). But ya, I like Jim Lee's artwork, and lets not let this go into a Jim Lee column.

By the way, I know "For Tomorrow" sucks as a story, so please, no flames! or burns! or whatever you wanna call them! :D

One thing I find with Jim Lee's art is that jsut about every male character looks about the same.

Jim Lee is ok, but he isn't my favorite.

Damn fine cover. But I have a bad feeling about this...

spoiler:

Probably already been said, but after seeing that cover...Earth 2 Superman is gonna die taking him down I bet. The original superhero dying to save the DC universe one last time. Also makes sense if Lois is dead, he has nothing to live for other than to save this universe.

Let's see it inked first. I'm still going with Perez. Perez from day one. I don't care how good Lee's is.

Amen. There's been a couple of the covers where I thought Lee did the better job. But, well, overall I much prefer Perez's art.

Unless Lee is in is Sepia Tone Hush Flashback art style. That rocked.

I'm not a huge fan of Lee's artwork, and I'll continue to buy the Perez covers. However, I have to admit that this is a lovely piece of artwork. I usually find Lee's art more appealing in pencil form ( found this with #3 as well), so I hope the inking will do it justice.

Loving the pencils. Can't wait for the inks to come. Anyone else feeling the "Death of Superman" flag in the background. I'm REALLY looking forward to this issue now. More than before.

I just love that Batman, apparently, threw a batarang for goodness' sake at the equivalent of a pre-Crisis Superman who can't be affected by this Earth's kryptonite (at least according to Issue 3). Not even strong enough to be ineffective, but the Dark Knight went down like a champ.

I doubt the cover is showing something that actually happened, but more showing that SBP beat the 3. It reminds me of the Ultimates 2 cover of Thor with Caps shield etc. It's also similar to the first 52 cover where items the top 3 possess are all collected together. Don't be suprised if the cover doesn't happen exactly in the actual story.

It's like your almost saying that, sometimes, comic book covers can be misleading.

Say it isn't so.

If you can't trust comic book covers, in this world, then who can you trust?

I actually love that cover. The only IC cover of Lee's I thought was a bit cooler than the Perez alternate was the Earth-2 Superman/Batman cover (but he made him look way too young) on number three. His Power Girl on number two just looked retarded.
I think Perez's covers have been stronger in general, especially the choice last time out: Perez's golden age Superman knocking current Superman through the page or Lee's boring new Blue Beetle.
As for Jim Lee in general, I'm kind of turning on him after years of following his work. I really find nothing inspired about his art in All-Star Batman and Robin. Poses are awkward, all his women look the same, and he actually re-used the exact same pose for Black Canary kicking drunks in the bar as he did fifteen years ago for Psylocke in X-Men 1. But if the book was written better, I probably wouldn't nitpick as much.

Sometimes...?

DC has made a habit of them since Countdown to make misleading covers...

Come on now, art appreciation is subjective, ogre, so there's no need to tell us it sucks, if we like it, we like it. Heck, appreciation of any form of media is subjective, I for one can't understand the appeal of 'The Family Guy' and would rather watch Mission Hill or Duckman and day...

that's because you don't have an appreciation for irreverent humour.

Damn it, I can't wait to see the final version. It looks amazing as it is, let's hope the colour adds to it.
