There have been plenty of great TV series out there that have that one season or half a season where the writers and producers really screwed the pooch and lost their way a bit that diminished the series as a whole.

Babylon 5's completely redundant fifth season comes to mind.

Which shows do you think could benefit from a "do-over" to fix these less-than-stellar weak seasons?

Give David Duchovney the money or just end the show for the last two seasons.

the x-files fell apart LONG before dechovney left.it collapsed around the 3rd or 4th season.

war of the worlds needs a second season do over

a different world needs either a first season do over,or a second and third season do over.

Mine has more than one season of do-over.

The O.C.

The first season was fun. The first half of the 2nd season was watchable, despite Oliver, up to the point where they had the upside down Spider-Man kiss during mid-season. Then everything went downhill from there.

It's been a nightmare ever since. Skinny ass Johnny added to the cast, the Stupid Dean, and not to mention the Marissa character.

Smallville Season 4

With only a few highlight episodes from the entire season. The majority eventually made me quit caring and watching the show.

Introduction of Jason Teague and mother, "Charmed" Smallville, Crouching Tiger Hidden Lana, Clepto Lucy Lane, was the last straw in my eyes.

Buffy season VII. After an overall excellent season VI, Buffy's swan song really sucked.

At the end of Season 9# , Matt LeBlanc's charactor , Joey was interested in Rachel. That was a unique and funny relationship. People were intriqued...would Joey end up playing a concerned dad after so many years as a single lovin guy ?

But once a spin-off was annouced the writers quickly put the kibosh on this funny storyline and just killed the final season. Older fans claim that Ross and Rachel deserved to walk off into the sunset as usual. But by this point many had gave up on it.

Sliders... all seasons after Arturo left the show need to be excised from history. Actually... all episodes after Wade left unless they were to have a rescue episode where the original team was reunited.

Alias Season 3.

I'll second that but I'm going to add in 4 and 5 as well. It hasn't been the same show since season II - I don't know if its all because of the loss of Will but that certainly a factor.

Dark Angel Season 2

Introduction of Dog Boy into the "Beauty and the Beast" role, Aleck, trying find the first generations of Manticore wronged experiments. Alba's hot factor couldn't even save the show.

Enterprise. It was a good concept, and pretty entertining for the first episodes, and then they just dropped the ball. I didn't watch any more than a few episodes in the first season, but a few of them were good and they could have done much better.

I completely agree. I had a ball with the first season DVD set, got all psyched out for the second. What a mess.

Marissa is the TV version of nails on a chalkboard.

Agreed about OC. Season 1 was great, season 2 was tolerable and season 3 is just awful.

Actually, it got better. Then immediately was cancelled. :p

Well I don't agree that it got better (the last season was just a bunch of fan service and it had more than its share of bad episodes), but even if it did, it was too late. They had already killed off all of the audience way before then.

Explain to me how Voyager lasted 7 years then?

Why do I have to explain it to you? It did.

Obviously the network thought that the ratings it got were enough to keep it on the air. This wasn't the case for Enterprise whose ratings were frequently the lowest of any Star Trek show.

Hear, hear, on Alias's third season. That was a nightmare.

Lois and Clark's third season also sucked, with the wedding/clone/frog mess.

Buffy's fourth season is one that drives me crazy. Riley. Stupid stupid Riley. And so many bad single episodes. And Adam. And the Matrix ripoff. It was a season with a couple brilliant episodes, but a lot of dreck.

Veronica Mars, season 2. The season actually still holds a lot of promise, but a couple of the storylines for the first half of the season were so soap operatic, they came as a slap on the face. Add to that the writers' insistence on flaunting one of the most boring characters/actors as a golden boy on the show for 11 episodes...without actually giving him any layers that weren't totally creepy.
