How do you know it's being changed to this?
I think it sucks.

That Johnson guy was hired to redesign the costumes for the new action figures they are releasing, they are more "battle" costumes.

I quite like it, but I like the left drawing of it far better than the right one.
Then again I don't mind the Astonishing costume too much either and never was a big fan of the Jim Lee-costume.

I dislike it completely. It's all superflous change and makes an otherwise elegant, simple design too complicated.
The only thing I could get behind is uncovering his head. Whats with the shoulder thing?
No good.

i liked cyclops new x-men costume, i liked most of the new x-men costumes they looked casual, scott needs to take the mask off and just have his visor like he did in the 90s i hate that pic of him on the card on this thread and i don't like his current uniform it's blands and no shape or anything.

As much as I don't like him going back to the cowl, I think it's just how Cassaday(sp?) draws the head that bugs me. The AX suit looks fine to me in the other books Cyclops shows up in.
I'm happy that they're (kind of) getting rid of the cowl, but I don't know why they had to change the costume itself, nothing wrong with the overall design.

It's true. This is the best summary I've seen of Cyke's current threads. If aliens landed right now and asked me to describe Cyclops' costume to them without using pictures, I'd say "bland and condomesque."

^haha nice one.
the astonishing costume, i feel is intended to come off badass, but it just doesn't...it's more of a big black condom than anything else. They should redesign it, make it blue, and remove the hood part...the leather jacket look with the big day-glo yellow was much better, as were most, if not all of his previous uniforms. If they're insistent on Cyke in black they should use this little-seen design instead:

I've been shaving my head since I was 9. I use either a No-Gaurd or a 1-Gaurd. Between my time with football and in the military I've come to love it.
But yea, that haircut suits someone like Gambit, not Cyclops.

But it did make sense, because he was changed after being possessed by En Sabah Nur for several months. I don't think he would've focused on getting his haircut during that time, and even Wolverine noticed a change, a loosening-up of his personality during the two-man siege that they pulled on Genosha during Eve of Destruction. Of course, it was two issues, and Grant Morrison totally changed how he was changed by having him bone/not bone Frost. It was a stupid change that did nothing but feed Morrison's ego.

Can anyone tell me what the purpose of Gambit being blinded was though?
And how can sage just stop someone from being blind? Seems a bit far-fetched to me?

Austen had plans for it, probably some sort of weird mutant sight powers. After all, Gumbo did see the Brotherhood in his playing cards, even though he was blind. I bet Austen was planning to turn him into the X-Men's Daredevil, but since he left the book Marvel wanted Gambit's sight back for Milligan's run. So CC took care of it in his Christmas issue of X-Men. As for how Sage did it, same way she saved Beast's life. She enhanced his body's natural healing ability by amping his mutation to evolve. Funny how one of Sage's abilities are only there to alter characters for other writers. ;) :D

Well, blame that on Austen. He'd already established that Elixir couldn't heal Gambit. Because he wanted to keep him blind, since he had plans for that. :)

What a horrible costume.
I think there's something dignified in Cyke's simple, streamlined AXM costume. It says "superhero leader" without saying "I'm from the 90s." Outside of the Morrison look, it's my favorite. But this? Ugh. Take everything I like about his current look, and then, blast it to hell. That's how we get this costume.
(BTW, I do listen, and I get that this isn't for the comic. It's still ugly)
