Hey everybody,
I'm starting this as a new art thread for myself, since my other one is full of some stinky stuff.
I'm working on a BPRD personal project, going to be modeling Hellboy, Abe & maybe Johann, as well as Von Klempt.
Here's what I've been working on for the past few nights, Hellboy, still not completely done detailing him, I also have one of those classic Mignola broken-swords modeled, I just have to detail it.

Wow! This looks totally cool, and on one day with detailed textures even better... Boots are very nice. Only one thing - please, make the tail a little bit smaller!... I think anatomically it shuld be above his a$$...
:)
(And maybe the cross should be thinner?...)

Love everything except the tail, which looks a tad on the thick side to me. Great and quite awesome work there my friend! :D

Yeah...think of his tail as an extension of his spine. Right now it's sticking straight out of his back-hoohah. And it really oughta be skinnier. Think of a dog's tail. It's not much fatter than the underlying bone structure. Otherwise, it's looking pretty amazing!

KWAK...as always, your stuff is incredible! Having dabbled in modeling myself I know this isn't easy.
That said, I would agree about the tail but the part that looks odd the most to me is the palm of the RHoD. Perhaps you are just not done with that part yet.
Keep it up!

thanks for the comments guys, I'll definitely move the connection up the back so it looks as though it's connecting to spinal cord. The girth and length of the tail was intentional, I always felt HB would look best with a huge tail. And yeah Kirk, the RHOD is unfinished.
Here's Von Klempt. Johann is next.

that von klemp is cool, and it looks like something the developers forgot to put in doom 3.

I was a bit leery of your realistic modeling style working with hellboy (besides didn't we see that in the movie?) I was impressed with the HB model, but still wondering why? what is he going to do creatively.....and now I see. There are subtleties in HB that I now only see after looking at your Von Klempt design. I look forward to whatever your project is!!!

Von Klempt is interesting. I really like all the detailing with the metal protrusions, wires, cables, etc., which is really no different than the comic character but very nicely rendered in a realistic style. The problem I have is that I'm not ready to see this character done realistically. I hate to be blunt, but I like Mike's version the best. That's probably because I've seen him so many times in the comic, and have come to associate that character so closely with Mike's rendition. However, seeing him done this way isn't without it's own appeal I suppose. Just not really my thing. :o

yeah, to each there own. Mike's rendition of Von Klempt, Hellboy, etc. is my favourite as well - I'm modeling these for an animated short, and in this case I felt it would be more interesting from a modeling/texturing/lighting perspective to go for a somewhat stylized realism instead.
anyway, more to come. I've started the preliminary modeling for johann, I have to now go in and detail all the folds on the containment suit and flak jacket.

Hey, man. These things look great! Can't wait to see 'em in color--I'm assuming the swastika will stand out more in color. For some reason the heads look kinda small on the bodies-- probably just my eyes. Keep up the great work and continue the updates.

It's gorgeous, gorgeous stuff.
I love the boots, god damn they are sexy.
My only suggestions are:
1. The tail, you know that.
2. His RHoD seems a tad too big.
3. His left hand is a bit big as well.
Keep at it master!

Just noticed that Hellboy's nips seem too far to the edges. The only reason I noticed it is that I was watching the Batman Anthology and Schumacher was talking about them on the Batsuit. Fantastic models otherwise!
