Anyone else here remember "Tex Arcana" from early-80s Heavy Metal? Now that was some fine artwork. One of my faves from that period after the Heavy Metal movie came out and the magazine started to go downhill fast.

no, but i grew up about 40 miles east of texarkana ... bought my first-ever silver age back issues at a used book store there for half cover price back in the early '70s, in fact -- scads of tales to astonish in particular.

Texarkana, eh? What did you think about The Town That Dreaded Sundown? ;)

saw it for the first time about 3 years ago, having found the vhs at the movie gallery near my house. not bad, though i could've certainly done without director charles pierce's efforts at comic relief in his deputy role. (when i was growing up, pierce was "mayor chuckles" on "the laugh-a-lot club," the texarkana tv station's after-school cartoon show.)

a guy whose yard i mowed a couple of times as a teenager confessed to the moonlight murderer killings, as it happens, but obviously he wasn't the culprit. the case remains unsolved nearly 60 years later.

Gotta agree with you about Pierce's comic relief moments. Still get a chuckle outta his undercover role, though...

Now, if you tell me you're a fan of Black Oak Arkansas, we can be friends, forever!, lol. :D

I know I read these stories. That name is a distant 80s memory for me. I clicked on the web-sites and still I can't remember these stories. Something keeps telling me they were well illustrated fun stories. I also have a distant memory of a story that is a spin-off of "The Thing from another world". I wish I still had my Warren collection, of years past.

I need to post again. I thought he (Tex Arcana) was "1984-94". Sorry, those two books "1984-94" and "Heavy Metal" have fused in my memory. I know I read "Tex Arcana", so it had to have been in "Heavy Metal". The Thing from another world, was "something" and the Ass-kickers of the fantastic. This was "1984-94". Can anyone help me with the rest of this story title?
